Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Produce Department Manager to drive sales and maintain high standards in the produce area. You will lead staff, uphold company policies, and ensure excellent customer service while managing pricing, inventory, and displays.

Responsibilities include hiring decisions, staff training, scheduling, and maintaining a clean, organized department. You will work with store leadership to optimize operations and safety, in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Willing to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Understanding of department ops: managing people, merchandising, ordering, inventory, shrink control, scheduling, expenses.
• Working knowledge of produce operations and store operations.
• Strong written and verbal communication with staff and customers under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Develop maximum customer relations by produce dept staff through friendly service and policy compliance.
• Assist in store security and loss prevention.
• Handle customer complaints promptly and professionally.
• Oversee hiring, firing, discipline, transfer and evaluation of produce staff.
• Provide training on price marking and customer courtesy.
• Supervise salad bar operations and daily setup.
• Plan staff schedules for optimum efficiency (full/part-time).
• Maintain neat department appearance and uniforms.
• Communicate effectively with store personnel across teams.
• Direct receiving, storing, pricing and merchandising of produce.
• Ensure adequate stock by proper ordering and inventory control.
• Maintain records and reports; ensure cleanliness and proper waste disposal.
• Monitor department operations and suggest improvements to store manager.
• Promote company initiatives and process improvements to staff.
• Remain calm and professional in all interactions; handle conflicts constructively.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues; support minors and vulnerable groups.
• Perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
