The role involves stocking, trimming, rotating, and replenishing produce, while following company safety standards and sanitation guidelines. Flexibility to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required to support the store’s operations.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience and ability to greet and assist customers.
• Ability to stock, trim, rotate, and replenish produce to maintain freshness.
• Comfort handling produce and assisting with department operations.
• Familiarity with safety, sanitation, and regulatory guidelines in a food environment.
• Capable of collaborating with coworkers and following management plans.

Responsibilities

About the Role

The Produce Clerk ensures produce displays and shelving are well stocked, clean, organized, and presentable. This role trims and rotates products tomaintainfreshness and quality,assistscustomers with their needs, and supports department operations,all while following Vallarta’shigh standardsof food safety and customer service.

WhatYou’llDo

• Customer Service: Smile, greet, and assist customers courteously.
• Merchandising: Stock, trim, rotate, and replenish produce items to ensure freshness and quality.
• Operations: Load, transport, and organize produce merchandise from coolers, storage, wet rack, and sales floor.
• Product Handling: Handle produce items carefully to prevent waste and damage; report poor quality immediately.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow company and health regulations; promote Vallarta’s Safety Program and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Sanitation: Clean produce displays, equipment, and supplies; sweep and mop floors.
• Teamwork: Assist coworkers, support merchandising plans approved by management, and communicate with supervisors.
• Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support department goals.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for long periods (6–8 hours/day).
• Frequently bend, squat, twist, kneel, and reach above/below shoulders.
• Frequent use of hands for simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
• Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally (e.g., potatoes, beans).
• Heaviest item carried: 50 lbs.; longest distance: 5 feet.
• Operate cars, trucks, forklifts, and other moving equipment safely.
• Work near equipment and machinery; may walk on uneven ground.
• Exposure to dust, gas, fumes, and noise.

• Basic understanding of English language.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, crowded environment.

• Must be able to transfer to other store locations within a reasonable commute.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
