Job summary

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer with a smile and assisting with needs.
• Review merchandise for freshness; replenish and rotate product to maintain quality.
• Ensure adequate product supply; follow production lists and anticipate daily needs.
• Check in product, put away stock, and review invoices as needed.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish product as necessary.
• Maintain sanitation and keep work area clean and safe at all times.
• Remove trash and assist with general department upkeep.
• Order product and supplies; price products for customers as needed.
• Answer the phone promptly and provide friendly service to customers.
• Follow Hy-Vee dress code and all department/company guidelines.
• Pitch in with other tasks or special projects as they come up.

What You'll Do

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer with a smile, assisting them with their needs, and going the extra mile to make their shopping experience a great one
• Review the status and appearance of merchandise for freshness and replenish and rotate product to maintain quality standards
• Ensure an adequate product supply is ready and on hand; develop or follow a production list and anticipate daily product needs for the department

• Practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe at all times

Education and Experience

Less than high school diploma or equivalent experience accepted

• Six months or less of similar or related work experience; we'll provide all the training you need to succeed

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
• Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
• Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
• Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
• Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

Working Environment

This is a fast-moving role where things stay busy and engaging. You'll work in the produce department and can expect frequent exposure to temperature extremes and dampness, as well as possible equipment movement hazards, electrical equipment, and cleaning chemicals and solvents. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.
