Job summary

Balls Food Stores is seeking a reliable Produce Clerk for Price Chopper to help maintain fresh, vibrant displays and provide friendly guest service throughout shifts. You’ll rotate stock, answer questions, and ensure signage and pricing are accurate while upholding food safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Preferred: experience in grocery, retail, food service, or produce environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide friendly, helpful, and respectful guest service at all times to ensure a positive shopping experience.
• Stock, rotate, and face produce to maintain freshness and appeal.
• Build and maintain full, attractive displays that highlight product quality and promote sales.
• Inspect products for freshness and remove damaged items to uphold quality standards.
• Assist guests with product selection and answer questions about varieties and ripeness.
• Cut, prepare, and package fresh produce following food safety standards.
• Maintain knowledge of produce items, including seasonality, pricing, and location.
• Ensure accurate signage, labeling and pricing.
• Monitor inventory levels and report low or damaged items to reduce shrink.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow hygiene standards.
• Operate scales, scanners, and related equipment accurately.
• Communicate clearly with teammates and leadership to support department operations.
• Adhere to policies and participate in trainings; stay productive during slower periods.
• Other duties as assigned

Key Responsibilities & Job Duties

• Stock, rotate, and face produce to maintain freshness, minimize waste, and ensure an appealing presentation
• Build and maintain full, attractive displays that highlight product quality and promote sales
• Inspect products for freshness and remove damaged or spoiled items to uphold quality standards
• Assist guests with product selection, answering questions about varieties, ripeness, and handling
• Cut, prepare, and package fresh produce items following food safety and merchandising standards
• Develop and maintain knowledge of produce items, including seasonality, pricing, and location
• Ensure accurate signage, labeling, and pricing
• Monitor inventory levels and report low, excess, or damaged items to support product availability and reduce shrink
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including prep areas and sales floor
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards
• Operate scales, scanners, and related equipment accurately
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with teammates and leadership to support efficient department operations
• Collaborate across departments to support storewide efficiency and guest hospitality goals
• Adhere to company policies and procedures, including attendance, conduct, and dress code standards
• Support loss prevention efforts by staying alert and following proper procedures
• Participate in required trainings and continuous learning opportunities
• Remain productive during slower periods by culling, trimming, cleaning, or restocking
• Other job duties as assigned
