FreshDirect in New York is seeking a Produce Category Analyst to transform data into actionable insights across the produce and floral categories. You will partner with Category leadership and Buyers to improve sales, forecast, inventory productivity, and supplier performance in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a bachelor's degree, ERP experience (SAP/Oracle), and strong analytical, communication, and vendor management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or combination of experience + education.
• Experience with advanced ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, etc.
• Knowledge of SAP MM PP modules preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• 1+ year in Food / Grocery Retail / CPG or related industry.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly Produce Market Reports including USDA market news, pricing, weather impacts, and industry trends.
• Track vendor on‑time, in‑full metrics; supports vendor performance reviews.
• Improve vendor performance and deliver best cost procurement strategies.
• Coordinate with Demand Planning on forecast optimization and promotions.
• Coordinate with Receiving and Ground Ops on inbound process optimization.
• Maintain target in‑stock levels across multiple warehouse locations.

The Role

The Produce Category Analyst provides analytical and operational support to the Produce Merchandising team by transforming data into actionable business insights. This role partners with Category leadership and Buyers to improve sales, profitability, inventory productivity, forecasting, promotions, and supplier performance. The analyst plays a critical role in identifying opportunities through data while ensuring accurate reporting and execution across the produce and floral business. This position requires a highly analytical individual with strong business acumen who can work in a fast‑paced, highly perishable environment.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare weekly Produce Market Reports including, USDA market news, Commodity pricing, Weather impacts, growing region transitions, Industry trend, Consumer purchasing behavior.
• Supports vendor performance reviews. Track vendor on time, in full metrics.
• Work with Merchant team to improve vendor performance and deliver best cost procurement strategies.
• Coordinate with Demand Planning team on forecast optimization, promotional forecasting, and new product introduction.
• Coordinate with Receiving and Ground Ops teams on inbound process optimization.
• Maintain target in‑stock levels across multiple warehouse locations, while balancing inventory days on hand metrics.
• Collaborate with buyers on managing and reducing excess inventory on hand.
• Ensure all Supply Planning team members are cross trained in adjacent category processes.
• Analyze retail pricing and competitive positioning.
• Measure promotional effectiveness and ROI.
• Identify opportunities to improve gross margin without sacrificing sales.
• Manage key vendor accounts and support seasonal availability/crop planning with grower partners.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree required or combination of experience + education
• Prior experience working with advanced ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, etc
• Knowledge of SAP MM PP modules preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Experience managing procurement and vendor management across multiple departments
• 1+ year of experience in the Food / Grocery Retail / CPG industry, or related industry
• Demonstrated proficiency in inventory management, vendor negotiation and purchasing processes, with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts
• Strong analytical, organizational, decision‑making
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Adept at working in a fast‑paced and ever‑changing work environment, with an appetite for continuous learning
