We are seeking a long-term ProcurementSupervisor to work in an ongoing 'interim' role.
You would be working on-site in our Morgantown, PA offices five(5) days per week.
We ask that you have experience within a Manufacturingenvironment, having worked with medical supplies, chemicals,consumable medical products.
We support Clinical Care and Scientific Research sectors.
Interim Position Summary:
The Procurement Supervisor is responsible for overseeing thecompany's purchasing and procurement activities to ensure thetimely, cost-effective, and reliable acquisition of materials,supplies, equipment, and services.
This position manages supplier relationships, negotiates pricingand purchasing terms, monitors inventory requirements, andcoordinates procurement activities with internal departments tosupport business operations.
The Procurement Supervisor will establish and maintain effectivepurchasing processes, identify opportunities for cost savings,mitigate supply chain risks, and ensure procurement activities alignwith company objectives, quality standards, and operational requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Procurement and Purchasing:
- Oversee day-to-day purchasing activities, including theprocurement of raw materials, components, supplies, equipment, andoutside services.
- Review purchase requisitions and determine appropriatepurchasing methods, quantities, and timing.
- Ensure purchase orders are issued accurately and in a timely manner.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with vendors toensure timely delivery.
- Identify opportunities to consolidate purchases, improvepurchasing efficiencies, and reduce costs.
- Establish purchasing guidelines and procedures to promoteconsistency and accountability.
Supplier and Vendor Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with qualifiedsuppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, andcontractual arrangements.
- Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost,reliability, and delivery.
- Address supplier issues, including shortages, late deliveries,pricing discrepancies, and quality concerns.
- Develop and maintain alternative supplier relationships tominimize supply chain disruptions.
Inventory and Supply Chain Coordination:
- Work closely with Operations, Production, Warehouse, andCustomer Service to forecast purchasing needs and maintainappropriate inventory levels.
- Monitor inventory availability and purchasing trends toprevent shortages and excess inventory.
- Coordinate procurement activities with production schedulesand customer demand.
- Evaluate lead times, minimum order quantities, and safetystock requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory turnover andreduce carrying costs.
Cost Management and Process Improvement:
- Monitor procurement spending and identify opportunities forcost reductions.
- Analyze purchasing data, supplier pricing, and marketconditions to support purchasing decisions.
- Develop and maintain procurement metrics and reporting,including purchasing costs, supplier performance, and on-time delivery.
- Recommend improvements to procurement systems, processes, and controls.
- Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies,approval requirements, and applicable regulatory and quality standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day direction, guidance, and support toprocurement and purchasing personnel.
- Establish work priorities and ensure purchasing activities arecompleted accurately and on schedule.
- Monitor employee performance and provide coaching and development.
- Assist with hiring, training, performance evaluations, andother personnel matters as appropriate.
- Promote teamwork and effective communication across departments.

Experience and Skills:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, BusinessAdministration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supplychain management, or a related discipline.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, scientific products,distribution, or similar environment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating with suppliers andmanaging vendor relationships.
- Strong understanding of purchasing processes, inventorymanagement, and supply chain operations.
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
