Job summary

Ingersoll Rand Sedalia, MO is seeking a Procurement Supervisor to lead a fast-paced purchasing team in a large-scale manufacturing setting. You will manage inventory, supplier relationships, and material planning while driving cost efficiency.

The role emphasizes people leadership, process improvement, and collaboration with engineering and production to meet the master production schedule and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with relevant purchasing experience.
• 3+ years of progressive purchasing or buying experience.
• 3+ years using Microsoft Excel with advanced formulas and data analysis.
• 2+ years supervising or managing employees, including performance management.
• 2+ years using an ERP system such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, or a comparable platform.

Responsibilities

• Procurement: Manages a team that plans, purchases and controls inventory to meet the Master Production Schedule and orders backlog; negotiates delivery schedules.
• Forecasts: Reviews shortage forecasts and expedites delivery; coordinates with engineering and production for material planning.
• Suppliers: Develops supplier relationships to ensure cost-effective availability; sources alternative suppliers for critical parts.
• Customer Supply: Plans and purchases materials to support on-time customer shipments and forecasted demand.
• Quality: Ensures specifications are met and analyzes supplier quality trends; identifies alternate sources.
• Management: Develops a high-performance team through recruitment, training, coaching and goal setting.

As Procurement Supervisor, you will lead and develop a team of buyers supporting a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment with hundreds of thousands of SKUs, millions of dollars in material activity, and a network of domestic and international suppliers. You will strengthen team performance through employee development, accountability, workload management, succession planning, and process improvement—all while helping achieve critical operational and supplier-performance goals.

This opportunity is designed for a proven people manager who enjoys being present with the team, coaching employees, solving problems, and improving how work gets done. You should bring progressive purchasing experience and practical knowledge of purchase orders, supplier relationships, material procurement, and purchasing processes. Experience with ERP or MRP systems and strong Excel skills will also be important to your success. Manufacturing experience is valuable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Procurement:Responsible for Managing a Team that Plans, purchases and controls the level of inventory necessary to effectively meet the Master Production Schedule and order backlog while reducing inventory levels. Establishes inventory levels. Assists in development of the production plan based upon sales orders, forecasts and historical demand for product. Negotiate purchased material delivery schedules.
• Forecasts:Reviews shortage forecasts and initiates activities to expedite delivery. Reviews production schedules to adjust forecast of materials demand. Works with engineering and production in developing material planning required to forecast product requirements.
• Suppliers: Develops relationships with suppliers to ensure product is available at an appropriate cost. Sources alternative suppliers of critical parts and components to insure dependable and cost effective supply.
• Customer Supply: Plans and purchases materials for customer and planned requirements in order to support on-time customer shipments. Uses historical sales to forecast new sales.
• Quality: Works with engineering to insure specifications are met on all purchased parts. Analyzes and identifies supplier quality trends to prevent problems. Finds alternative sources for products and/or parts.
• Management: Develops and maintains a high performance team through recruitment, training, coaching and establishing goals and objectives.

Requirements
