Job summary

RES is seeking a Procurement Specialist/Expeditor in Denver to support EPC projects spanning solar, wind, BESS, substations, switchyards, and transmission lines. You will source, negotiate, manage suppliers, and expedite critical resources from bid to delivery to meet project schedules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in CM/Business/Engineering/Supply Chain or 3+ years related experience.
  • IMS or CIPS certification preferred.
  • 3+ years negotiating POs and subcontracts preferred.
  • Travel 16–30% required.
  • Experience expediting equipment/material/subcontractors to match schedules; renewables/ECI preferred.
  • Multitask and prioritize workload across categories.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making under tight timelines.
  • Attention to detail in high-volume documentation; experience issuing and managing multiple RFPs.
  • Excellent time management and planning.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • MS Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Summary

The Procurement Specialist/Procurement Specialist - Expeditor is a member of the center‑led Procurement Team supporting the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Business Function across renewable energy and transmission projects, including utility‑scale Solar, Wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Substations, Switchyards, and Transmission Lines. This position helps achieve competitive advantage and business profitability through effective sourcing, commercial negotiation, supplier management, and disciplined procurement and expediting of services, materials, and equipment. The position collaborates closely with, as needed, project management, engineering, estimating, legal, insurance, logistics, construction site teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to procure, track, and expedite critical project resources from bid through delivery, ensuring project schedules are met and successful project execution is achieved.

This role will be hybrid requiring a minimum of 3 days in office.

Requirements
  • Expedites purchase orders and subcontracts for major equipment and materials — PV modules, tracker systems, inverters, BESS enclosures, transformers, switchgear, breakers, conductor, and structures — from award through delivery, confirming order acknowledgements, drawing submittals, fabrication progress, inspection and test dates, release, and shipping documentation against contractual delivery commitments to RES.
  • Performs desk and field expediting, including supplier progress calls and shop visits, to verify manufacturing progress against the schedule. Identifies slippage, develops recovery plans, and escalates critical‑path exposure to project teams and senior‑level individuals for resolution.
  • Maintains the project expediting log as the single source of truth for delivery status and required‑on‑site dates.
  • Builds strong internal and supplier relationships.
  • Advises project teams on sourcing and delivery risks for medium‑spend and low‑to‑medium risk scopes, providing guidance to support successful project execution while identifying process challenges and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Mentors Procurement Associates and works with other Procurement Specialists, Expeditors, Buyers and/or Managers to affect the group positively.
  • Builds relationships with the project teams to understand how equipment and materials perform per our construction means and methods. Understands which equipment and materials drive critical path and bring our program a competitive, strategic advantage, including long‑lead items, such as main power transformers, high‑voltage breakers, BESS units and switchyard steel.
  • Makes recommendations for process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Arranges, tracks, and expedites the timely delivery of services, materials, and equipment to meet site expectations, including as applicable, coordinating freight, customs, permits and receiving with logistics and site teams.
  • Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
  • Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies & Procedures.
  • Presents, supports, and leads‑by‑example with a safety and quality‑oriented attitude.
  • Takes a proactive approach to the scopes being handled to ensure lead times and pricing are accurately communicated and identify the best path to market.
  • Troubleshoots and trains internal Procurement staff and stakeholders on software use and best practices. Makes recommendations for process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Works with Health, Safety, Quality, and Environment (HSQE) group to evaluate subcontractors, implement safe practices, mitigate safety risks, and ensure subcontractors are prequalified before beginning on‑site work.
  • Participates in required training and follows safety management system (SMS), quality management system (QMS), and environmental management system (EMS) procedures.
  • Learns and actively drives the use of the various software platforms Procurement uses, including Business World, Procore, SharePoint, Hive World, ISN, and other resources.
Safety
  • Follows safety and security procedures and determines appropriate action. Reports potentially unsafe conditions and uses materials and equipment properly.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent degree, or 3+ years of military/education/relevant work/field experience combination required.
  • IMS or CIPS certification preferred.
  • 3 years or more negotiating purchase orders and subcontractors preferred.
  • Ability to travel 16-30% required.
  • Experience expediting equipment, material, and subcontractor deliveries against project schedules, ideally in renewables or electrical infrastructure construction.
  • Multi‑tasks and able to prioritize project workload and category portfolio for the given fiscal year.
  • Good at problem‑solving and decision‑making, including in scenarios where information is uncertain and timeframes are tight.
  • Strong skills related to attention to detail and accuracy in written documentation when dealing with high volume workload Experience issuing and managing multiple RFPs across different technologies and stakeholders.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizing capabilities.
  • Good communicator (written and verbal) and able to build solid and effective relationships with team members, project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • High level of competency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel (pivot tables), and PowerPoint).
Highly desirable
  • Expediting, materials management, or logistics experience on renewables or T‑line/Substation EPC projects.
  • Knowledge of contracts and subcontracts.
  • Understands macro‑level market conditions and how they will affect their spending category.
  • Knowledge of Solar, Wind, or Substation and Transmission line construction and Procurement.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean methodology.
  • Functional competencies include attention to detail, prioritization, business acumen, collaboration, and self‑knowledge & self‑learning.

Anticipated base salary range: $70,000 - $88,000

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
