Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a seasoned Project Manager in procurement for HVAC/NPD initiatives. You will lead multiple cross-functional procurement projects, aligning with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to deliver planned outcomes and continuous improvement.

Responsibility includes supplier evaluation, chartering projects, and driving cost and delivery improvements. Bring 5+ years of PM experience in industrial settings, strong communication, and the ability to travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 5+ years of project management experience in an industrial or HVAC/manufacturer setting.
• Experience in plant/manufacturing environments preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication; strong influencing/negotiating skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple procurement projects using standard work to build and execute implementation plans for NPD projects and source change programs.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to monitor progress and remove roadblocks.
• Align procurement strategies with Operations, Engineering, and Marketing to ensure supply continuity.
• Evaluate supplier capabilities to select partners meeting quality, cost, and delivery requirements; manage supplier relationships and contracts.
• Lead cross-functional gate reviews ensuring resources are allocated to projects.
• Travel up to 25%.

What’s In It For You

In this exciting role, you will be responsible for managing multiple procurement projects, working with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams using standard work to build and execute project implementation plans for New Product Development projects. Partner with Centralized Procurement to assist with projects charter, benefits, and resource requirements. Responsible for monitoring active projects, updating status, eliminating roadblocks, and escalating issues as appropriate. Investigate, coordinate and communicate project changes. Identify gaps to goals and collaboratively develop and support countermeasures and activities to close the gap and exceed targets. Support Procurement goal achievement by leading and executing supplier rationalization, quality, and delivery improvement projects. Work to align sourcing strategies between Operations, Engineering and Procurement to ensure supply continuity.

What You Will Do

• Responsible for Commercial HVAC procurement goals and metrics including supplier review and selection for new product development projects, supplier capability reviews with Engineering, and risk management.
• Project manager for multiple procurement projects, working with cross-functional teams and applying standard work to execute implementation plans for productivity, continuous improvement, and new product development (NPD) projects and source change programs.
• Ensure alignment of Procurement strategies with operations, marketing and engineering platforms plans and requirements. Responsible for understanding and sharing Operations, Engineering and marketing specific strategies with Procurement.
• Evaluate Trane technologies business needs against supplier capabilities to select the preferred suppliers who meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements; leverage commercial knowledge to navigate and manage supplier relationships and contracts.
• Active participant in cross functional gate reviews ensuring that required cross-functional resources are allocated to execute projects as outlined. Partner with Procurement to assist with projects charter, benefits, and resource requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 5+ years of previous project management experience in an industrial or HVAC manufacturer in the areas of procurement, engineering, project management, quality, finance and/or operations
• Experience working in a plant/manufacturing environment highly preferred
• Demonstrated ability for independent thinking and multi-tasking. Proven ability to plan proactively, anticipate issues and have excellent problem resolution records.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong influencing and negotiating skills across organization. Possess strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience running large complex cross functional projects. Knowledge in supplier development, materials management, and/or supplier quality a plus.
