Job summary

Grenzebach Hellas seeks a Procurement Planner to oversee sourcing, contract negotiations, and supplier management to ensure timely delivery of quality materials while controlling costs. The role collaborates with engineering and manufacturing to optimize inventory and procurement processes.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering, CPM preferred, and experience with Acumatica ERP. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Expedite deliveries and monitor supplier performance against targets.
• Maintain JIT inventory levels with operations and engineering teams.
• Prepare weekly reports on parts orders and supplier acknowledgments.

Job description

Job Overview

The Procurement Planner oversees procurement and supplier management functions, including sourcing, contract and price negotiations, order tracking, inventory management, supplier performance, and continuous process improvement to ensure timely delivery of quality materials while controlling costs.

Responsibilities (including But Not Limited To)

• Develop and implement strategies that identify the optimum supplier base, terms of agreement, and pricing methodology
• Work closely with procurement team members to ensure purchase orders are created in a timely manner to meet production requirements. Escalate as needed.
• Review Order Acknowledgement to ensure correct negotiated pricing and delivery performance
• Execute expediting activities and policies from the development and implementation of sourcing strategies
• Expedite deliveries and conduct follow-up, as required. Escalate with emails, phone calls, management
• Work closely with operations and engineering to maintain a “just-in-time” level of inventory; keep personnel informed of delivery status
• Weekly reports presented to show parts needed to be ordered, parts with no vendor acknowledgement dates and parts with vendor acknowledgement dates later than required
• Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with key vendors and customers
• Negotiate, conclude, and maintain quality standards and specifications in regard to price, quality, and on time delivery to meet customer expectations
• Work with engineering to find cost-viable alternatives for long lead-time components
• Resolve parts discrepancies and warranty issues; coordinate replacement/returns of materials for credit
• Process accurate receiving records to ensure customer invoices are approved and processed for payment timely
• Produce required reports in a timely manner
• Continuously review and improve purchasing processes and procedures
• Provide ongoing communication and consulting with all involved departments (i.e.; engineering; manufacturing; sales)
• Ensure and provide ongoing communications and consulting with involved internal departments (i.e. sales, engineering, manufacturing)
• Maintain inventory records and conduct year-end inventory audit as needed
• Arrange for disposal of surplus inventory

Requirements And Attributes

• Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings, specification, Bills of Material; interpret equipment shop testing specified by engineering
• Able to prepare requests for bids, evaluate bidders, and expedite vendors
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good PC skills and working knowledge of Acumatica ERP software
• Ability to work independently, but also in a team environment
• Strong multi-tasking skills
• Accept responsibility and ownership of duties and tasks
• Detail-oriented and well organized
• Problem-solving skills and abilities

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience
• CPM certification strongly preferred
• Purchasing experience in electro/mechanical manufacturing environment preferred
• Purchasing experience based on engineering specifications preferred
• Previous contact experience with suppliers including some negotiating skills/experience and customer service background
