Job summary

Subsurface Energy Resources, LLC is seeking a Procurement Manager to oversee the procurement department, negotiate contracts, and coordinate with project leadership. The role focuses on maintaining vendor and client relationships, ensuring timely procurement, and evaluating quality, price, and availability of goods and services.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree and at least five years of related experience, preferably in mining or material handling, with CPP certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years related procurement experience preferred, with mining/material handling exposure as a plus.
  • CPP certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate contractual and commercial terms with suppliers, acting as the company's representative.
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Monitor and maintain procurement activities to meet required deadlines.
  • Continually monitor and report on supplier performance.
  • Manage intermodal logistics including international import-export transactions globally.
  • Resolve disputes with suppliers.
  • Establish and implement procurement processes and policies.
  • Implement and maintain recordkeeping systems.
  • Coordinate with other departments to identify business needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, services, and substitutions.
  • Assess market conditions and forecast future availability.
  • Prepare and present market condition and procurement cost reports.
  • Monitor stock inventory levels and coordinate surplus disposal.
  • Administer the departmental budget.
  • Respond to written and verbal requests in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THIS JOB (Summary)

The Procurement Manager will oversee and direct the activities of the procurement department. This position is important to the success of the company to ensure that vendor and client relationships are maintained and cultivated; proper timelines are maintained; and the quality/price/availability of products and services are continually evaluated. This position will also be negotiating and creating contract agreements and coordinating with the Project Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Hire and manage the staff required by the Procurement department
  • Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the department
  • Oversee training of new and existing employees within the department
  • Conduct timely and constructive employee performance evaluations
  • Coordinate with the Human Resources department the discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policies
Functional Responsibilities
  • Negotiate contractual and commercial terms with suppliers, acting as the company's representative
  • Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, equipment, and services
  • Monitor and maintain procurement activities to meet required deadlines
  • Continually monitor and report on supplier performance

  • Coordinate and collaborate with other departments to identify business needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, services, and acceptable substitutions
  • Assesses current availability of goods and services and forecast future availability based on the market conditions, delivery systems, and other variables
  • Prepare and present market condition and procurement cost reports
  • Monitor and report on stock inventory levels and coordinate the removal or disposal of surplus inventory
  • Administer the departmental budget
  • Reply to written and verbal requests in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Work in compliance with all company health and safety rules and regulations
  • Identify any health and safety hazards or infractions and report the same to the Health and Safety department
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience, preferably in mining and/or material handling
  • Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) certification preferred

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional domestic and international travel
  • Ability to access all areas of the facility to determine needs
