Elgen Staffing in Collingswood, NJ, seeks an experienced Procurement Manager to oversee meat product procurement, logistics, and inventory. You will manage supplier relationships, import documentation, and customs coordination to ensure a reliable supply chain.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in purchasing or supply chain in meat, strong Excel and ERP skills, and a proven ability to forecast, analyze market trends, and navigate import/export rules.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or procurement in the meat industry
  • Experience with inventory management systems and forecasting tools
  • Expertise in international procurement, particularly within Australia, New Zealand, and South America
  • Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, logistics, and compliance standards
  • Proficiency in market analysis tools and platforms (Urner Barry) and understanding industry trends
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills with ability to manage complex documentation and timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with business goals

Responsibilities

  • Develop purchasing forecasts by analyzing historical usage, sales promotions, and market trends
  • Collaborate with inventory controllers to maintain optimal stock levels with minimum/maximum thresholds for imported products
  • Anticipate forward sales requirements to ensure availability and visibility of forward volume
  • Stay updated on market dynamics using Urner Barry and other industry resources
  • Monitor meat industry developments including logistics and global market conditions
  • Oversee import documentation for SQF audits and coordinate with QA on document expiry
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure timely updates of certifications and critical documents
  • Source products from domestic packers, distributors, and importers to ensure reliable supply chain
  • Collaborate with Retail and Foodservice to provide timely supply chain insights
  • Generate weekly market reports on lamb and beef import trends and supply challenges
  • Serve as liaison between purchasing and sales to align operational objectives
  • Develop long-term supplier partnerships in Australia, New Zealand, and South America
  • Build sustainable procurement programs with clear shipment forecasts
  • Ensure timely customs clearance and resolve import challenges
  • Coordinate import documentation with relevant teams and communicate arrivals to production

Compensation: 135000.-140000. / Annually

Our client, a nationwide provider of high-quality food products has an immediate opening for an experienced Procurement Manager,to join their winning team in Collingswood.

Our candidate of choice will be responsible for overseeing the procurement, logistics, and inventory management of meat products. You will stay updated on industry trends, represents the company at conferences, and manages supplier relationships and handle logistics coordination, including customs clearance and documentation, and support the sales team with market insights. We require a strong background in supply chain management, procurement, and market analysis, with a preference for experience in the meat industry.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Develop and execute purchasing forecasts by analyzing historical usage, sales promotions, and market trends.
  • Collaborate with inventory controllers to maintain optimal stock levels by implementing minimum and maximum thresholds for imported products.
  • Anticipate forward sales requirements to ensure seamless inventory availability and visibility of forward volume.
  • Stay updated on market dynamics through platforms such as Urner Barry and other industry resources.
  • Monitor developments in the meat industry, including logistics and market conditions in the U.S. and internationally.
  • Oversee import documentation to meet all compliance requirements for SQF audits. Stay ahead of documents expiring by working closely with the QA team.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure timely updates of certifications and other critical documents.
  • The candidate will be responsible for sourcing products from domestic packers, distributors, and, when necessary, other importers to ensure a reliable and competitive supply chain.
  • Collaborate with Retail and Foodservice teams to provide accurate and timely supply chain insights.
  • Generate and distribute weekly market reports summarizing lamb and beef import trends, supply challenges, and relevant market intelligence.
  • Serve as a key liaison between purchasing and sales to align operational objectives.
  • Develop and nurture long-term partnerships with suppliers in Australia, New Zealand, and South America.
  • Work closely with suppliers to build out sustainable procurement programs and ensure clear, consistent communication on shipment forecasts.
  • Ensure timely customs clearance of shipments and resolve any import challenges.
  • Oversee and support the import documentation process, coordinating with relevant team members to ensure accuracy.
  • Working with production team to communicate incoming arrivals so they can implement a production plan
  • Prepare and distribute essential paperwork (e.g., Certificates of Analysis, Health Certificates, rejection documents) to the plant prior to delivery.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Basic Reading, Writing and Math skills
  • Related Experience/Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or procurement, required in the meat industry
  • Experience with inventory management systems and forecasting tools.
  • Expertise in international procurement, particularly within Australia, New Zealand, and South America preferred
  • Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, logistics, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in market analysis tools and platforms (e.g., Urner Barry) and a solid understanding of industry trends.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, with a proven ability to manage complex documentation and timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with business goals
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
