Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is a global leader in power and energy consulting, offering hybrid work with three days in Hamilton, NJ and two remote days. We seek a Procurement Specialist to manage purchasing, material tracking, and subcontract lifecycles for diverse projects.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's Degree with 3–5 years in procurement/contract administration, strong communication, and MS Office proficiency. Work closely with engineers, PMs and clients in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with project managers, engineers, clients, suppliers and contractors.
  • Detail-oriented with good judgement and initiative.

  • Proficient in MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

  • Create purchase orders in internal vendor management systems.
  • Material management, tracking and coordination.
  • Track material orders and deliveries in vendor systems.
  • Travel to jobsites to inspect materials.
  • Expedite suppliers/subcontractors/engineering input as needed.
  • Coordinate with engineering PMs, suppliers, contractors and clients.
  • Manage subcontract lifecycle for projects.
  • Support clients in procurement processes.
  • Assist in evaluating supplier/subcontractor proposals.
  • Perform risk assessments on subcontracts.
  • Monitor and evaluate contract performance.
  • Record keeping and document control with audits.
  • Process vendor invoices for payment.

We are currently seeking a Procurement Specialist!

Essential duties and responsibilities for the Procurement Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Create purchase orders in Client or S&L’s internal vendor management systems
  • Material management, tracking and coordination activities
  • Track material orders, deliveries in vendor management systems
  • Travel to jobsites to receive and inspect materials
  • Expedite suppliers / subcontractors / engineering input, as appropriate
  • Coordinate and work closely with engineering project managers, suppliers, contractors, subcontractors and client personnel
  • Manage and administer the subcontract life cycle process for assigned projects
  • Support S&L clients in their procurement processes
  • Assist in evaluation of proposals from suppliers / subcontractors
  • Perform risk assessments on potential and existing subcontracts
  • Monitor and evaluate contract performance
  • Record keeping / document control with audit involvement
  • Processing vendor invoices for payment

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with the expectation of 3 days in our Hamilton, NJ office and 2 days working remotely from home.

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in procurement and/or contract administration
  • Strong written, verbal, & people communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with project managers, engineers, clients, suppliers and contractors as necessary
  • Detailed thinker
  • Ability to make educated judgement calls, solve problems and take initiatives necessary to perform job functions
  • Team player and self-starter with ability to complete projects on schedule
  • MS Office Suite proficiency

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Power industry experience supporting large power generation, substation or transmission line projects
  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) and/or C.P.M (Certified Purchasing Manager) designation
  • Experience with Workday and Asana

Compensation Range

$69,657 - $106,421
