Job summary

Gerber Products Company in Fort Smith, AR, is seeking a production associate to originate, plan, adapt, and organize methods in pouch production. You will set up equipment, operate tanks, finishers, fillers, and pasteurizers, and help troubleshoot equipment and alarms.

You will complete documentation, perform quality checks, manage materials, and contribute to continuous improvement with supervision. Must lift up to 70 lbs and follow safety, GMP, and Nestlé quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to read recipes and written instructions.
  • Capable of documenting production steps accurately.

  • Originate, plan, adapt, and organize methods in pouch production.
  • Set up equipment and operate tanks, finishers, fillers, and pasteurizers.
  • Troubleshoot failures and alarms; operate lift-truck/walkie-stacker as needed.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and associates to drive continuous improvement.
  • Complete documentation and perform quality checks per QMS and ISO standards.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Originate, plan, adapt, and organize methods to accomplish work in the batching, processing, and filling areas of pouch production. Set-up varied equipment for recipe specific parameters. Assemble, operate, maintain, and monitor equipment during operations. Troubleshoot failures and/or alarms.
    • Associate will be expected to operate all equipment in area, including but not limited to: tanks, processing skids, tote concentrate stations, various finishers and/or grinding equipment, filler, and pasteurizer.
    • Associate will be expected to perform lift-truck and/or Walkie-stacker operating duties
    • Collaborate with supervisor and fellow associates to run production, troubleshoot, problem solve and determine ideas for continuous improvement.
    • Additional duties as assigned by department supervisor.
  • Must complete all documentation as required.
    • Employee will perform quality checks according to the QMS
    • Consume materials and declare production as well as complete all area setups and checks.
    • Order/return materials for production including staging materials to location current inventory system.

Associate will be called upon to perform varied clean-up duties. These may include, but are not limited to: CIP, COP, general housekeeping, assembly and disassembly of equipment, checking and connecting line paths, line flushing or rinsing, and returning of unused ingredients.

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
  • Minimum High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be able to understand written English, recipes, written instructions, and perform basic math skills.
  • Associate will be required to document that he/she is qualified to perform the functions of position.
  • Employee must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting (up to 70 lbs).
