Job summary

The Krusteaz Company in Kent, WA is hiring for a production role in our dry mix operation. Under direct supervision, you will prepare raw materials for the final blender input, input inventory, and assist with unloading and blending in a high-volume production environment.

This position offers swing, day, and night shifts with overtime and a comprehensive benefits package. You must be able to lift 60 lbs, operate forklifts, and follow GMP and safety procedures to support consistent product

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior food processing and packaging machinery experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare raw materials for final blender input, including weighing, combining and other manual manipulation.
  • Input raw material inventory transactions using handheld devices and computers.
  • Manually open 50 lb bags and dump into blending systems.
  • Perform manual equipment set-ups, tear-downs and cleaning within standard time requirements.
  • Assist with unloading bulk raw materials from rail cars and transfer into silos.
  • Weigh and inspect equipment and product for quality and contamination.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials in production areas.
  • Complete and process documentation for receiving, inventory, safety, and shift communications.
  • Follow GMP, safety, and SOPs; work overtime as needed.

Description

Pay:

  • Compensation:The pay for this position is pre-determined at $25.19 per hour. Compensation for this role has been determined based on required experience, education, certification, and training. All positions are eligible for additional incentives based on business performance.
  • Shift Differential: A n additional $1.25 is paid per hour for working swing shift. An additional $2.25 is paid per hour for working 12 hour night shift.
  • 60 Day Raises: $0.50 wage increase after 60 days of employment.
  • Quarterly Bonuses: Earn up to 7% per quarter based on safety, quality, and other metrics.

Schedule

  • 8 hour swing shift working Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
  • 12 Hour Day shift working a rotating 12 hour shift scheduled three or four days per week from 6:00 AM - 6:30 PM
  • 12 Hour Night shift working a rotating 12 hour shift scheduled three or four days per week from 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM
  • Overtime as the business need requires

About the Position

Under direct supervision, convert raw material ingredients into large batches of dry food mixes for blending and mixing in a high volume production environment. Provide mixing, raw material unloading/receiving, ingredient supply, quality sampling, equipment cleaning and other services.

Essential Functions:
  • Prepare raw materials for final blender input, including weighing, combining and other manual manipulation
  • Accurately input raw material inventory transactions using various electronic handheld and computer devices
  • Manually open 50# raw material ingredient bags and physically dump into blending systems
  • Perform manual equipment set-ups, tear-downs and cleaning within standard time requirements
  • Assist with unloading bulk raw materials from rail cars, tracks and other large volume delivery systems and transfer into appropriate silos
  • Visually weigh and examine equipment and product for cross contamination, color, saturation, lumps, and other key attributes or defects for quality control
  • Operate powered forklifts and manual pallet jacks to move materials within production areas
  • Complete and process documentation related to receiving, inventory, equipment cleaning, safety, shift communication, and other areas in a clear, accurate, and timely manner
  • Consistently follow safety, quality, GMP and other company guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Work overtime as needed

Physical Demands and Work Environment

As a member of the operations team, you will be exposed to a variety of physical demands that require you to frequently lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), climb stairs, exert energy, bend, twist and squat, and use tools and equipment. Employees stand and walk on concrete while wearing steel-toed shoes, uniforms, hair nets, bump caps, gloves and safety glasses. The use of company–provided hearing protection is also required in stated areas. Work takes place in an indoor production environment that has a high level of food dust and limited climate control. Will enter confined spaces and work at above-floor heights on ladders and platforms.
