Job summary

Swift Solar in San Carlos, CA is seeking a Process Technician for the swing shift to advance our solar‑module development. You will work with product engineers, perform metrology tasks, and help build efficient, reliable, and manufacturable modules that meet strict specifications.

On a typical day you will review plans with day shift staff, run encapsulation methods, conduct environmental testing, and document results. This is a hands‑on role in a fast‑paced startup that rewards initiative.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on experience as a technician in a technical field (lab counts).
• Able to follow complex instructions and report results clearly.
• Capable of handling small, delicate samples with care.

A day in the life

As a Process Technician on Swift's swing shift, you will be key to advancing our solar technology. You will specialize in product development and metrology — building efficient, reliable, and manufacturable modules to meet and exceed customer requirements.

On a typical day, you will start with a pass-down and review plans with day shift technicians, engineers, and scientists. You will closely collaborate with product engineers to execute module builds. This involves precise handwork and careful handling of materials. You will execute encapsulation methods and conduct key environmental testing, characterizing performance and collecting critical data along the way. Additionally, you will run environmental exposure and reliability experiments to ensure our tech stands up in the real world.

In our early-stage startup environment, you'll actively evaluate data, document observations, propose follow-up experiments, and manage tool output, supply needs, and sample preparation. Clear written communication is critical during shift handoffs, and as the team expands, you will have opportunities to mentor new members and broaden your technical skillset.

You might be a good fit if you…

• Have 2+ years of hands-on experience working as a technician in a technical field, including time in a lab environment (any lab counts)
• Can work from complex and varying instructions given by scientists and engineers, pay careful attention to details, and report status and results back clearly
• Have experience handling small, delicate samples, and bring some craftsmanship to the way you work with your hands
• Communicate effectively and promptly, both in person and in writing
• Take initiative without prompt, work independently, and manage your own time well
• Are growth-minded and coachable — you welcome feedback and pick up new things quickly
• Are comfortable operating in a rapidly changing environment
• Are kind, empathetic, conscientious, and motivated to make an impact on climate change

A strong candidate might bring one or more of the following…

• Experience working safely and efficiently in a lab, semiconductor, R&D, or manufacturing environment
• Experience with thin film metrology tools
• Experience with materials characterization
• A track record of suggesting and implementing improvements to routine processes you've worked on
• Comfort working in shared digital logs and collaborating through cloud-based tools
• Operating experience in a startup setting

The logistics

• Compensation: Competitive package including pay, equity, and benefits
• Expected Pay Range: $29 - $40 per hour + 10% shift differential
• Job type: Full-time, Non-exempt, On-Site
• Swing Shift: 2 pm–10:30 pm
• Location: San Carlos, CA (Swift Solar HQ)
