Job summary

American Plastics, headquartered in St. Louis, MO, is seeking a Process Technician for our Simpsonville, SC operation to report to the Production Manager. The role focuses on maintaining cycle times, part quality, and process setups for injection molding lines.

You will program robots, manage mold changes, and handle process documentation. The ideal candidate has 2+ years as a process tech, comfort with 12-hour shifts, and knowledge of various injection molding machines and robotics.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a process technician in injection molding or similar process.
• Must be able to work a 12-hour shift schedule.
• Knowledge of operating injection molding machines and robots.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cycle times and part quality.
• Interpret job packets, specifications, BOMs, scrap reports and quality requirements.
• Identify resins used and percent usage; operate CRT interface on presses.
• Establish new processes, perform mold sets, robot programming and start machines per Mold Books/QR codes.
• Understand hot runner systems, valve gates, and standard sprue molds.
• Troubleshoot injection molding machines and robots.
• Follow management instructions and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

American Plastics, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is a leading designer and manufacturer of innovative plastic-injection molded products for the household & garage storage and commercial cleaning end-markets. We are searching for a Process Technician for our Simpsonville, SC. This position will report to Production Manager

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain standard cycle times and part quality
• Be able to understand and communicate the information provided within the job packet pertaining to specification sheet, standard routing, B.O.M.’s, scrap reports and quality requirements
• Be able to identify all resins used in molding operation including regrind and the associated usage percentage
• Must understand and operate the operator interface ‘CRT’ screen on computer-controlled presses, including all screens required to control the process
• Must be able to establish a new process, do mold sets, Robot Programming and start a machine based upon settings in Mold Books/QR Code.
• Demonstrate a basic knowledge and understanding of hot runner systems, Valve Gates, and standard sprue molds
• Trouble shoot issues on Injection Molding machines and Robots.
• Other duties as assigned by Management

Fixed Schedule

All (4) shifts A, B, C, D are scheduled on a 2/2/3. This schedule gives you a 3-day weekend every other week! The schedule pattern consists of four 12-Hour shifts who work two days in a row, get two days off and then work another three days, which results in only 14 working days each month!

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Eligible to work in the United States of America
• Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen & Authorize Background Check
• Must be able to work a 12-Hour Shift
• Knowledge of operating the following Injection molding machines a must, such as:
• Engel, Milacron, Battenfeld, UBE and HPM’s
• Knowledge with Wittman and Servpro Robots preferred.
• Organized, detail oriented, team player with a sense of urgency
• Resourceful, with ability to apply critical problem-solving skills
• Effective Communication Skills
• Applicant must have 2 plus years’ experience as a process tech in injection molding or similar process
• Follow departmental documentation procedures
• 5S and Lock Out Tag Out experience preferred
