Job Description
The Process Tech II takes full ownership of the various processes in the injection molding department and specifically in their assigned area. Their main responsibilities are directed at maintaining optimum daily performance, run efficiency and repeatability of all the Injection department’s molds and machinery. The Process Tech II performs accurate, efficient mold set‑ups and start‑ups daily, maintaining a high level of machine output and utilization for the assigned cell.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform all Set‑Up Tech I and Set‑Up Tech II responsibilities including mold preparation, mold removal, mold installation, and robot and secondary equipment set‑up.
- Maintain maximum utilization and uptime on machinery in the assigned area.
- Daily monitor all running jobs for adherence to department standards including part quality, cycle time, and part weight conditions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any processing range issues that are abnormal or outside of standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Tech Supervisor, Engineering department, Mold Shop, Scheduling, and Quality Control departments to perform mold/material testing, accurately document test results, and make recommendations.
- Lead mold changeovers and group efforts to meet schedule adherence requirements.
- Train others on proper set‑up and start‑up procedures.
- Assist in identifying, recommending, and implementing new procedures to improve safety, efficiency, and profitability.
- Provide technical support to other set‑up technicians to fine‑tune jobs, reduce cycles, reduce part weights, and increase department profit margins.
- Recognize and correct safety hazards as they are identified.
- Ensure that production areas are kept clean and orderly.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, punctuality, and dependability to meet department and organizational needs.
- Execute each essential duty satisfactorily to perform the job successfully.
- Follow all safety procedures, wear required PPE, attend safety meetings, and report safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
- Perform effectively as a team member, work well with others, be open to feedback, and treat everyone with respect.
- Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.
- Follow department quality standards/criteria.
- Raise concerns and issues to the immediate manager.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must have knowledge and ability to perform all aspects of the material handler and set‑up positions.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed, remain flexible, and open to possible schedule changes to meet business needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED, or three to four years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous demonstrated advanced level processing/troubleshooting skills, quick identification and resolution of root causes of processing/quality issues.
- Ability to develop, optimize, and document run parameters for new or existing department molds, materials, auxiliary and secondary equipment.
- Ability to coordinate activities with various positions and personnel in the Injection Molding department and supporting departments.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to solve practical processing related problems in situations where limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Excellent knowledge of the injection molding process, materials, molds, and machinery.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a group of people to accomplish a predetermined goal.
- Knowledge to perform all aspects of utility, material handler, and all set‑up technician levels.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous mechanical, electrical, or hydraulics training or experience.
- Scientific Injection Molding, Paulson Practical Injection Molding (Advance).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Walking, standing, bending at the neck and waist, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting at the neck and waist, repetitive use of hands, simple grasping, power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, reaching above and below the shoulder, carrying/lifting up to 75 lbs. Also includes driving cars, trucks, forklifts and other equipment, working around equipment and machinery, exposure to excessive noise, dust, gas, fumes or chemicals, working at heights, and use of special visual or auditory protective equipment (PPE).
PPE REQUIREMENTS
- Safety glasses
- Utility gloves / cutting knives
- Leather top slip‑resistant shoes
- Steel‑toe slip‑resistant shoes
- Hardhat
- Hearing protection (ear plugs, ear muffs)
- Face covering (mask) in accordance with company policy
COMPENSATION RANGE
$28.36 - $33.00 per hour (salary may vary based on experience).
