Job summary

SpaceXAI is seeking a Process Technician to build, install, operate, and troubleshoot fluid and process systems at our power generation facility. You will work on fuel gas, ammonia, water, compressed air, HVAC, and related systems, providing feedback to engineers on operability and maintainability.

You will interpret plans and drawings, perform wiring and sensor verification, and support commissioning and outages while following safety and regulatory procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years using mechanical/electronics hand tools.
• 3+ years of pipe fitting and fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

• Support fuel gas, ammonia, water cooling and related balance-of-plant systems.
• Read and interpret planning documents, P&IDs, schematics, data sheets and drawings.
• Repair or replace faulty components of process, utility and plant fluid equipment.
• Connect and verify pressure transducers, thermocouples and other sensors.
• Complete wiring of electrical support equipment for process and utility systems.
• Perform high-pressure liquid and pneumatic testing.
• Troubleshoot and repair urgent issues during commissioning, start-up, outages, or normal operation.
• Follow lockout/tagout, hot work and confined space procedures; operate on live and isolated systems.
• Collaborate with fluids, mechanical and controls engineers to walk down systems and improve operability.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Process Technician is responsible for building, installing, operating, and troubleshooting fluid and process systems at SpaceX’s power generation facility. This role focuses on plant fluid systems including fuel gas, ammonia, water, compressed and instrument air, and HVAC. Technicians play a key role in the design and commissioning process by providing feedback to engineers on how systems will be operated and maintained.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support fuel gas, ammonia, water/cooling water, compressed and instrument air, HVAC, and related balance‑of‑plant process systems
• Read and interpret planning documents, P&IDs, schematics, data sheets/manuals, drawings, blueprints, and engineering sketches
• Adjust, repair, or replace faulty components of process, utility, and plant fluid equipment
• Connect and verify pressure transducers, thermocouples, and other sensors
• Complete necessary wiring of electrical support equipment for process and utility systems
• Perform high‑pressure liquid and pneumatic testing
• Troubleshoot and repair high‑urgency operational issues found during commissioning, start‑up, outages, or normal plant operation of fluid systems
• Follow lockout/tagout, hot work, confined space, and other site safety procedures while working on live and isolated process systems
• Work with fluids, mechanical, and controls engineers to walk down systems, redline drawings, and improve operability and maintainability

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 3+ years of experience using mechanical and/or electronics hand tools
• 3+ years of experience with pipe fitting and fabrication

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
• Experience maintaining and troubleshooting complex fluid and mechanical systems in a power plant, process plant, or similar industrial facility
• Experience with fuel gas, ammonia, water treatment or cooling water, compressed/instrument air, HVAC, or hydraulic/pneumatic systems
• Experience with orbital or structural welding
• Experience with pneumatic/hydraulic system fabrication
• Professional experience with calibrated measuring instruments
• Experience using heavy equipment, including but not limited to overhead cranes, forklifts, and manlifts
• Ability to read P&IDs and support system commissioning and outage work

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs (unassisted)
• Must be willing to travel up to 25%. Position is based at a SpaceX power generation facility; work at other SpaceX sites for extended periods for similar work may be required
• Must be able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and rotating shifts as needed based on plant operational needs; flexibility required
• Ability to work in all environments (heat, cold, rain) while wearing appropriate PPE
