Job summary

Newell Brands in Winfield, KS is seeking a Process Technician for night shift 2-2-3 rotating 6p-6a. You will monitor, troubleshoot and repair plastic/foam forming machines and related equipment to keep products in spec and ensure safety and quality.

The role requires basic math, reading and interpreting equipment manuals, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Forklift and related lift certifications are expected eventually.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of one-year stable work history.
• Demonstrated mechanical capability and at least two years’ experience in a technical field; technical certificate preferred.
• High school diploma/GED required; basic math skills essential.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders.
• Must communicate clearly and listen well via radios and other devices.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and be self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure safe operation of machines and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair machines to meet efficiency and scrap targets.
• Document corrective actions for part weights and process monitoring.
• Perform timely changeovers on related equipment.
• Maintain quality standards in the machine cell.

Night Shift: 2-2-3 rotating split 6p-6a

General Responsibility:

The Process Technician monitors troubleshoot and makes minor repairs on plastic or foam forming machines and auxiliary equipment. They diagnose and make process changes necessary to keep product in specification and ensure quality product is being produced in a safe and efficient manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance and make regular repairs to ensure dependable and safe operation of machines and equipment.
• Proficient at troubleshooting and making repairs on all pertinent machines and auxiliary equipment to meet facility scrap and efficiency key measures.
• Document and implement corrective actions for part weights and process monitoring.
• Perform changeovers for related equipment in a timely and efficient manner.
• Maintain quality standards for all products in machine cell
• Proficient in all safety and housekeeping requirements.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

• Minimum of one-year stable and verifiable work history is required.
• Demonstrated mechanical capability and a minimum of two years’ experience in a technical related field required. Technical certificate preferred.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Must possess basic math skills.
• Must have working knowledge of hand and small power tools.
• Must possess good communication skills to ensure that clear and concise information is communicated as required.
• Must be able to read and interpret equipment manuals, documents, and implement work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Must be a good listener, having the ability to receive instructions over two-way radios, and other communication devices.
• Must be a self-starter, self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Must be able to become certified on operating forklift, scissor lift snorkel lift and overhead crane.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to work overtime as well as some irregular hours. This position will work in a reasonably clean production environment. Due to working in a production environment, the exposure to noise is constant. Seasonal weather variations may result in frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions, particularly on the receiving floor and production areas where open doors allow exposure to prevailing weather conditions. Physical exertion such as pushing, pulling, kneeling or heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is frequent.
