Job summary

Linamar is seeking a Process Technician to ensure product quality and maintain casting tolerances. You will support production, monitor caster operations, and lead process improvements while collaborating with the team to launch new and existing products.

This full-time role requires basic math, documentation skills, and the ability to work extended hours as needed in a casting facility environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Melt experience preferred.
• Spectrometer experience preferred.
• Experience working in a manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist production by improving caster efficiency and reducing scrap.
• Support production with running to process.
• Monitor caster operation to identify opportunities for process improvement and reduce scrap.
• Complete process-related projects as assigned by supervisor.
• Train and assist manufacturing to ensure successful launches of products.
• Complete process reviews and tool condition checks supporting plant operations.
• Perform thermal reviews and report to management.
• Implement solutions within defined boundaries.
• Collaborate with other Process team members on projects.
• Communicate process improvements and project results to management.

Description

Job Summary: Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer, the Process Technician ensures that the quality of products remains within tolerance to assure consistent production of castings within design specifications and tolerance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist production through the improvement of caster efficiency and scrap reduction.
• Support production with running to process
• Monitor caster operation to assist in scrap reduction by seeking and identifying opportunities for process improvement. (Monitors plant scrap)
• Complete process-related projects as assigned by supervisor.
• Train and assist manufacturing assuring successful launch of new and existing products.
• Completes process review and tooling conditions supporting plant operations.
• Completes Thermal reviews and reports to management team.
• Implement solutions within defined and limited boundaries.
• Assist other Process members with projects.
• Communicate process improvements and project results to members of management.
• Understand cause and effect of defects and their detection
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous Melt experience is preferred.
• Previous Spectrometer work is preferred.
• Experience working in a manufacturing facility.

Work Environment:

This job operates within a casting facility. Ability to work in conditions which may include seasonal hot and humid conditions, dust, noise, and other elements for extended periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, non-exempt position with scheduled hours Monday through Friday. Overtime may occur during the work week or weekends and will be based on production needs.
