Job summary

Skills Alliance seeks a senior engineering leader to coordinate departmental workload, lead performance reviews, and develop staff. The role includes business development tasks, client engagement, and representing the firm at industry events.

Ideal candidate holds a PE license with 12+ years in water/wastewater design, and has proven staff management and project leadership experience. PMP or business degree are advantageous. Expect on-site leadership in PA.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering with 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
  • Strong background in water/wastewater treatment design.
  • Proven experience managing staff and leading project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, prioritise, and schedule departmental workload.
  • Run quarterly goal-setting meetings and annual performance reviews; manage performance and progressive discipline for your team.
  • Build out training and development plans for new hires and existing staff.
  • Take part in recruiting and interviewing for new team members.
  • Partner with clients to spot and develop new business opportunities.
  • Work with project and client managers to assemble technical proposals and respond to RFQs.
  • Represent the firm at industry conferences, client events, and association meetings.
  • Sign off on timesheets, expense reports, and PTO requests for the department.
  • Support project managers with invoicing and accounts receivable follow-up.
  • Oversee project budgets and contribute to PM evaluations.
  • Track change orders, scope changes, purchase orders, and subconsultant activity.
  • Act as a go-to technical resource for internal teams.
  • Take on project management duties and/or hands-on engineering design work as needed.
  • Support QA/QC standardisation efforts and ensure the department follows established standards.

Education

Environmental, Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
Active Professional Engineer (PE) License
PMP certification
Business/MB A (Bachelor's degree)
