Process Safety Engineer

Job summary

LAMP is seeking a senior Process Safety Engineer to own and advance the process safety discipline for a facility handling flammable solvents and a catalytic reactor. You will drive HAZOPs, manage change and mechanical integrity programs, and lead incident investigations.

You will document OSHA/EPA applicability, develop safety information packages, and ensure overpressure protection and relief system adequacy, while training operations and maintenance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering is required.
• 7+ years of process safety experience in chemical or petrochemical manufacturing.
• Direct experience leading HAZOPs and closing recommendations.
• Experience with relief system sizing and API 520/521.
• Practical PSM and RMP program implementation experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine and document applicability of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 and EPA 40 CFR Part 68 based on final chemical inventory and threshold quantities.
• Build and own the process safety information package, including chemical hazard data, technology and equipment information.
• Lead process hazard analyses using HAZOP or equivalent, and drive recommendation closure before startup.
• Own relief system design verification, flare or vent header adequacy, and overpressure protection documentation.
• Establish the management of change, pre startup safety review and mechanical integrity programs.
• Address polymerization hazards, including inhibitor management, temperature control and storage practices.
• Develop and verify safe operating limits and consequences of deviation for inclusion in operating procedures.
• Support incident investigation and lead process safety training for operations and maintenance.
