Job summary

DuPont Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware seeks a Process R&D Laboratory Technologist to synthesize and evaluate polymer materials, apply ion exchange resin technology, and perform lab testing to support new products and manufacturing processes.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, analyze results, document procedures, and maintain laboratory safety and equipment to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• 2–5 years of experience in an industrial laboratory environment (internship or co‑op acceptable).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Synthesize, functionalize, and evaluate polymer materials to support the development of new products and manufacturing processes.
• Apply ion exchange resin technology to address processing, separation, and purification challenges.
• Perform laboratory testing and characterization of polymer and aqueous systems to generate data and guide technical decisions.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams of scientists and engineers to achieve project objectives and business goals.
• Analyze experimental results and communicate findings, conclusions, and recommendations to technical teams and management.
• Manage laboratory operations, including ownership of process and analytical equipment, maintenance of procedures, and documentation.
• Champion a strong safety culture by adhering to laboratory safety standards and promoting safe work practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience synthesizing, functionalizing, and/or testing polymer materials.
• Familiarity with ion exchange resins and laboratory‑scale packed bed systems.
• Experience characterizing polymers, aqueous systems, or related materials using analytical techniques.
