Job summary

Scout Motors is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our Columbia, SC team. You will work hands-on with production to improve battery architecture quality and drive KPI-based quality improvements across engineering, supplier quality, and operations.

The role requires 4+ years in automotive engineering or product quality, with strong knowledge of quality systems (AIAG, IATF, ISO, VDA) and a collaborative, results-oriented mindset. On-site 4–5 days weekly with compelling compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in automotive engineering/product quality
  • Strong knowledge of battery architecture and vehicle systems
  • Experience applying quality standards (AIAG, IATF, ISO, VDA)
  • Hands-on troubleshooting with production teams
  • Ability to drive quality improvements with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve product quality from the customer's perspective using warranty and production data
  • Collaborate with upfront development, supplier quality, and supply chain teams
  • Analyze data from field and production to support KPI goals for quality and production
  • Lead quality improvements based on market research and benchmarks to meet customer requirements
  • Drive quality improvements with Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Operations to meet and exceed KPI targets
  • Execute quality fast-response processes to accelerate improvements
  • Support root cause analysis to ensure high-quality Scout production vehicles
  • Define and maintain quality processes and standards with Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations
  • Provide leadership to technical quality teams and oversee daily operations
  • Troubleshoot hands-on with Production and work cross-functionally
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve product quality from the customer's perspective based on warrantyand production data collection for battery architecture
  • Responsible to work with upfront development activities and ongoing production activities with Supplier Qualityand Supply chain
  • Responsible for analysis of data from field and production to support KPI goals for Quality and Production
  • Drive improvements based on quality market research activities, quality and benchmarks to determine customerquality requirements.
  • Drive Quality improvements with Engineering, Supplier Quality and Operations to ensure Quality KPI’s are met anddrive to exceed expectations
  • Responsible to execute Quality fast response process to drive Quality improvements
  • Support the planning, execution and evaluation of root cause analysis to ensure high quality of Scout productionvehicles.
  • Support the definition and ongoing maintenance of quality processes and technical standards in cooperation with Engineering, Purchasing and Operations teams and provide leadership to the technical quality teams and overseedaily operations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hands on with Production team
  • Work cross functionally with other departments within Scout
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, South Carolina.
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in automotive engineering/product quality, with at least
  • Very good technical understanding and sound specialist knowledge of battery architecture
  • Very good vehicle assessment skills and a very good understanding of the vehicle as a whole
  • Sound knowledge of quality management
  • Hands on approach
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, a high level of assertiveness as well as entrepreneurial thinking and goal- and result-oriented decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of AIAG, IATF, ISO, and VDA experience
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial Base Salary Range: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00

Internal Leveling Code: IC9
