Job summary

Umicore is seeking a Process and Product Development Manager to advance germanium substrate technologies. You will build expertise in substrates and wafering, coordinate testing, and collaborate with suppliers, customers, and R&D partners to industrialize new processes.

You will work in an international environment, report findings, and drive projects with a structured methodology, applying analytical approaches to optimize production flows and product quality.

Qualifications

• PhD in Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science.
• Experience with process integration and hands-on development.
• Ability to work in an international context and interface with stakeholders.
• Good data analysis skills; knowledge of statistical software (e.g., Minitab, JMP) is a plus.
• Strong reporting and project management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Introduce quality improvements to Germanium wafer products.
• Qualify developed processes internally and externally.
• Set up and coordinate testing and select tools for timely industrialization of new technologies.
• Improve production flow by crafting and testing new processing steps.
• Interact with end customers to understand their needs.
• Develop and coordinate process steps/modules with colleagues and external partners.
• Develop, prioritize and follow up development projects within a framework.
• Report Umicore R&D contributions in public-funded projects.
• Summarize results in reports and presentations and ensure knowledge transfer.
