Job summary

Confidential Jobs is seeking a QAR – Process Pipe on active high-tech construction projects, including semiconductor facilities. The role inspects process piping materials and installations, ensures compliance with codes, and provides technical support to contractors and tool owners.

Ideal candidates have journeyman piping experience, QA/QC background, and the ability to interpret drawings and standards while coordinating with multiple trades in a fast-paced field environment.

Qualifications

• Journeyman-level experience in process piping or a closely related piping trade.
• Experience in QA/QC, inspection, or quality assurance roles supporting major high-tech construction projects or semiconductor facilities.
• Demonstrated experience inspecting industrial process piping systems using plastic, metal, and hybrid piping materials.
• Strong background in industrial piping installation, fabrication, welding, fusion, and pipe joining methods.
• Applicable technical degree is preferred; equivalent technical trade experience will be considered where permitted by project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Inspect process piping materials before installation to verify fabrication specifications, quality standards, and project requirements are met.
• Perform field inspections and equipment signoffs for process piping installations.
• Ensure installations comply with Master Specifications, Standard Installation Details, ASME, AWS, NFPA, UMC, UBC, UPC, and applicable codes.
• Review piping construction drawings, symbols, layouts, and tool drawing sets to identify and resolve field construction issues.
• Serve as the technical interface among trades, contractors, designers, Construction Management, Engineering, and tool owners.
• Support contractor supervision with installation requirements, quality expectations, and compliance issues.
• Assist trades in identifying and resolving technical construction problems and RFIs.
• Participate in SOP activities and perform SIPP and Pre-Task Plan audits to verify compliance with project requirements.
• Track field hours, assess earned value, and coordinate prefacility readiness checklists.
• Develop, interpret, and maintain installation guidelines, situational bulletins, and quality-related memos.
• Provide expertise in welding, fusion, solvent welding, brazing, soldering, threaded, compression, face seal, and flared piping connections.
• Drive trade coordination based on area layouts, construction sequencing, microschedules, and tool installation requirements.

Job description

The QAR – Process Pipe serves as a quality assurance and code-compliance resource for Construction Management and Engineering teams on major high-tech construction projects, including semiconductor facilities. This role inspects process piping materials and installations, verifies compliance with project specifications and applicable codes, and provides technical support to contractors, trades, designers, and tool owners. The QAR is critical to ensuring safe, compliant, high-quality piping systems are installed correctly and ready to support project operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect process piping materials before installation to verify fabrication specifications, quality standards, and project requirements are met.
• Perform field inspections and equipment signoffs for process piping installations.

• Review piping construction drawings, symbols, layouts, and tool drawing sets to identify and resolve field construction issues.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

• Journeyman-level experience in process piping or a closely related piping trade is required.
• Experience in QA/QC, inspection, or quality assurance roles supporting major high-tech construction projects or semiconductor facilities is required.
• Demonstrated experience inspecting industrial process piping systems using plastic, metal, and hybrid piping materials.
• Strong background in industrial piping installation, fabrication, welding, fusion, and pipe joining methods.

Special Requirements

• Must meet requirements for industrial pressure piping inspection through one of the following:
• ASME B31.3-compliant weld certificate.
• Certification by George Fischer in one or more PVDF fusion processes is preferred, including GF Model IR 63 and/or GF Model IR 225.
• Must be qualified as a PVC/CPVC bonder in accordance with ASME B31.3, Chapter VII.
• Certification by a PVC/CPVC manufacturer in solvent-cemented joint fabrication, valve installation, mechanical/threaded connections, and related piping system components is preferred.
• Must be able to work in the field and perform inspections in an active construction environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of process piping quality standards for plastic, metal, and hybrid piping systems used in microelectronics construction.
• Strong understanding of carbon steel and stainless‑steel welding and weld characteristics.
• Knowledge of heat fusion and solvent welding methods for various plastics.
• Knowledge of pipe joining methods, including threaded, compression, face seal, flared fittings, brazing, and soldering.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, piping drawings, symbols, specifications, and tool drawing sets.
• Working knowledge of local and national codes, acceptable industry practices, and applicable construction standards.
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with trades and explain technical expectations clearly.
• Ability to assess constructability, solve field issues, and respond to technical questions and RFIs.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, documentation, inspection, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, project management, engineering, and other construction disciplines.

Additional Desired Characteristics

• Previous experience supporting semiconductor, microelectronics, cleanroom, or high‑purity process piping projects.
• Experience with prefacility readiness activities, construction scheduling, microschedules, and earned‑value tracking.
• Experience writing quality procedures, installation guidelines, field bulletins, or compliance documentation.
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold contractors and trades accountable to quality and safety expectations.
• Familiarity with area layout coordination and tool installation sequencing.

This is a primarily onsite field-based position supporting active high-tech construction projects. The role requires regular site walks, inspections, interaction with contractors and trade personnel, and work in a fast‑paced construction environment. Occasional overtime, schedule flexibility, and work outside standard business hours may be required based on project needs and construction schedules.
