Job summary

Job description

Process Operator

The primary purpose of this position is to be responsible for the operation of chemical processes (adjusting variables such as temperature, pressure, feed rate, sampling, etc.). This is a 5-2-2-5 3rd Shift position schedule (6PM to 6:30AM) and requires every other weekend.

Responsibilities
  • Comply with all safety and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Maintain housekeeping in assigned areas while working in a safe manner and following all established SOPs.
  • Use the PPE as specified in the SOPs.
  • Be an active member of the emergency response team and associated training.
  • Fill out regulatory paperwork, inspections, and checklists as assigned to meet the intent of regulations.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance (RCRA, Title V, Air Permits, and OSHA regulations) in assigned areas.
  • Participate in mandatory Environmental, Health, & Safety and process‑specific training.
  • Communicate compliance, safety, and equipment needs to shift supervisor or senior operator.
  • Fill out daily and weekly inspection check sheets as assigned.
  • Maintain vessel batch logs, reports, manifests, check sheets, and other documentation as assigned.
  • Complete prism tasks for material transfers, move tickets, material usage, prism logs, work orders, raw material inventory, produced inventory, ensuring compliance with PRISM and ISO 9001:2000 SOPs and documentation.
  • Operate processes according to SOPs; notify supervisor of deviations.
  • Record ingredient weights and temperatures, input into database.
  • Store, retrieve, mix, and monitor chemicals used in production.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues.
  • Monitor chemical treatment machines and instruments, including flow meters and machine dials.
  • Respond to warning signals and alarms.
  • Operate manual and semi‑automatic machinery using controls, panel boards, and other input devices.
  • Take chemical samples and perform tests for process progress.
  • Regulate or shut down machines in emergencies.
  • Perform auxiliary tasks such as tank transfers, bulk truck or railcar loading/unloading, container emptying/filling, dumping bags and supersacks, sampling, pump outs, etc.
  • Recommend changes to SOPs and process equipment.
Reporting Structure
  • This position reports to the Production Supervisor.
