Job summary

Solstice Advanced Materials is seeking a skilled operator for our Geismar, LA facility. The role involves running complex process equipment, monitoring controllers, and making data-driven adjustments to maintain safe and efficient production.

You will participate in 5S activities, shift relief, and continuous improvement projects. Ideal candidates bring chemical manufacturing experience, strong safety and process-control knowledge, and the ability to work in PPE, with a valid driver’s license

Qualifications

  • Experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Knowledge of safety, quality and process controls.
  • Able to climb stairs and work in PPE; lift and handle heavy equipment as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • TWIC card eligibility or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in continuous improvement events and 5S activities.
  • Reliefs shift duties and participates in Tier 1 meetings.
  • Operates equipment controlling mix, feed and flow of chemicals.
  • Observes controllers and records data to troubleshoot and adjust operations.
  • Redirects or shuts off feeder lines during emergencies and notifies supervisor.
  • Participates on process improvement teams.
  • Performs routine inspections and documents irregularities.
  • Creates work notifications for repairs and maintenance.
  • Collects and records operating data and conducts control checks.
  • Implements process changes to meet operational requirements.
  • Performs minor repairs on operating equipment.
  • Follows standard plant procedures and annual reviews.

Responsibilities:
  • Participates in continuous improvement events and routinely participates in 5S activities.

  • Actively participates in shift relief (Tier 1 meeting).

  • Operates complex equipment such as controls that regulate mix, feed, and flow of chemicals including responsibility for proper functioning of equipment in Apollo units.

  • Observes data from controllers and recorders to make process changes and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment.

  • Redirects or shuts off feeder lines during emergencies and alerts supervisor of action taken.

  • Participates on process improvement teams.

  • Makes scheduled routine inspections of operating areas to observe operating conditions and reports any irregularities.

  • Creates work notifications on equipment needing repair in operating area.

  • Collects and records operating data, runs variety of routine control checks during operations and makes appropriate operational changes.

  • Makes process changes as necessary to meet various operational requirements.

  • Makes minor repairs to operating equipment as needed.

  • Follows standard practices and procedures as established for plant operations.

  • Modifies/Reviews operating procedures on an annual basis.

  • Required member of emergency brigade.

  • Potential OJT certification and training of new operators as required.

  • Performs all necessary housekeeping duties in area.

  • Hazardous waste sampling, hazardous waste packaging/loading duties, container marking and labeling, hazardous waste container handling and management, respond to chemical spills and releases, and conduct and document routine inspections

Qualifications
You Must Have:
  • Experienced in a chemical manufacturing plant

  • Knowledgeable in safety, quality and process controls

  • Able to climb 200 foot of stairs at times, Able to work in PPE, Able to open close valves up to 100 lbs of force, Able to lift up to 100 pounds.

  • Valid driver's license

  • TWIC Card eligible

We Value:
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience with OSHA/PSM regulations

  • Some experience working within a manufacturing environment

Compensation:

The annual base hourly range for this position is $34 Per Hour . Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Solstice Advanced Materials considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities or the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business consideration.
