Job summary

Gelest Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, in Morrisville, PA is hiring a Process Operator to support safe and efficient chemical production. You will monitor and control processes, maintain equipment, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations while adhering to SOPs.

The role requires a high school diploma (or GED) with chemical/manufacturing experience a plus; you will operate pumps, reactors, and distillation equipment, lift heavy loads, and participate in safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; chemical/manufacturing experience a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and diagrams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong analytical abilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; basic math and data interpretation.
• Strong attention to detail and safety protocol adherence.
• Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs; able to stand for extended periods; PPE required.
• Able to operate or learn forklift operation.
• Awareness of fire, safety and chemical hazards; pass respirator fit test as required by OSHA.
• Must hear and respond to alarms and communications; available for 12-hour shifts.
• Willingness to work fixed weekday day/night and weekend schedules as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate chemical processing equipment (reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors).
• Follow SOPs and safety protocols to produce specialty chemicals.
• Conduct basic tests and analyze data to ensure product quality.
• Track raw materials and finished products; maintain inventories.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
• Adjust processes based on feedback to maintain safe, efficient output.
• Collect samples for laboratory analysis at specified stages.
• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
• Support other duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Operate various types of chemical processing equipment, such as reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, pumps, and compressors.

• Gather, sign in, and sign out raw materials and finished products.

KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent. Chemical or manufacturing experience a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and diagrams.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Demonstrate basic math skills involved with calculating and interpreting data gathered during production.

The salary range for this position is $23.00 (entry level)- $30.00 per hour. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
