Job summary

Turner Mining Group is seeking a safety-focused Process Operator to support Sparta operations. You will operate and monitor production equipment, perform basic troubleshooting, and help maintain a clean, efficient work environment throughout the year.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior plant/industrial experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • MSHA knowledge or mining experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor production equipment and related systems.
  • Monitor control boards and adjust operations per procedures.
  • Inspect the work area before starting operations.
  • Start up and shut down equipment safely per SOPs.
  • Perform rail loading and material handling as needed.
  • Assist with basic process troubleshooting and equipment adjustments.
  • Support quality and production standards through monitoring and documentation.
  • Perform cleanup, housekeeping, and plant support duties.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance or TPM tasks.

Process Operator

Location: Sparta, WI

Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly

Department: Operations / Production

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview

We are seeking a safety-focused Process Operator to support production operations at our Sparta facility. This role is responsible for operating and monitoring plant equipment, performing basic troubleshooting, supporting rail loading and material handling, and helping maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, comfortable working in an industrial environment, and able to work in both indoor and outdoor conditions throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor production equipment, including screens, conveyor belts, pumps, hydrosizers, dryers, crushers, elevators, and related systems.
  • Monitor control boards and make operating adjustments in accordance with established procedures.
  • Inspect the immediate work area before beginning operations.
  • Start up and shut down equipment safely and according to standard operating procedures.
  • Operate heavy mobile equipment as needed.
  • Perform rail loading and material handling functions.
  • Assist with basic process troubleshooting and equipment adjustments.
  • Support quality and production standards through consistent monitoring and documentation.
  • Perform cleanup, housekeeping, and routine plant support duties.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance or TPM tasks as required.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
  • Prior plant, production, mining, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • MSHA knowledge or mining experience preferred.
    Physical Requirements
    • Ability to frequently lift, turn, and place materials weighing approximately 50 lbs.
    • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work from elevated platforms.
    • Ability to reach, stoop, kneel, pull, twist, bend, and perform other physical movements as needed.
    • Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, hammers, wrenches, and similar equipment.
    • Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
    Working Conditions
    • Industrial plant environment with exposure to dust, noise, moving equipment, wet/dry conditions, and extreme temperatures.
    • Work may be performed indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
    • Must be able to work after-hours, weekends, and on-call schedules as needed.
    • Must follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
