Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a driven Process-Mechanical Engineer to work on water/wastewater projects in Hawaii and across the Western United States.

You will join a core team of engineers and designers to deliver studies, designs, and field assignments, with opportunities to contribute to multiple disciplines and client engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in civil, mechanical engineering, or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive process-mechanical engineering experience in water/wastewater.
• Strong data analysis, problem-solving, organizational and multitasking skills.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate pumping, treatment, and process options for preferred solutions.
• Communicate complex problems and solutions to clients clearly.
• Plan and design full-scale pumping, treatment systems, and improvements for construction.
• Develop facility layouts and P&IDs.
• Create construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Evaluate and select process equipment, pumps, pipes, and valves.
• Analyze data and build computer models.
• Prepare technical reports; support bidding and permitting; conduct field inspections.

We are looking for a driven and curious Process-Mechanical Engineer to work on water/wastewater projects locally in Hawaii and across the Western United States.

As a Process-Mechanical Engineer in Hawaii, you will join a core group of water/wastewater and mechanical engineers and designers on studies, designs, and field assignments to deliver innovative solutions to challenging technical problems that our clients face. Your assignments will focus on water/wastewater projects but may also include broader process-mechanical engagements. You will be part of our collaborative team in Hawaii and aligned with Jacobs’ Infrastructure Design Department centered out of Corvallis, OR to provide the following services:

• Evaluation of pumping, treatment, and process options to determine the best approaches to solve client challenges
• Ability to understand and communicate complex problems and solutions with clients
• Planning and design for full-scale pumping, treatment systems, and treatment plant improvements for construction
• Development of facility layouts and process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
• Development of construction documents, including drawings and specifications
• Evaluation and selection of process equipment, pumping systems, pipe materials, and valves
• Data analysis and computer modeling
• Technical report writingBidding and permitting services support
• Field inspection of treatment/mechanical equipment

Here’s what you’ll need

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or related engineering discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive process mechanical engineering and project delivery experience with water, wastewater and/or industrial treatment, including planning, evaluations, and design
• Educational emphasis and a strong interest in treatment and/or mechanical system design and operation
• Self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong data analysis skills, technical problem-solving ability, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient skills with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ideally, you’ll have:

• Master’s degree in civil, mechanical, or related engineering discipline
• 10 or more years of direct experience in municipal wastewater treatment or process mechanical for water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations and conveyance systems experience
• Hydraulic modeling skills (e.g. Fathom, Pipe-Flo)
• Construction or facility operations experience
• Active in relevant professional organizations
• Working with and leading project teams and or managing projects
• Experience working and communicating directly with clients

The base salary range for this position is $91,400.00 to $142,750.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
