Job summary

Athens Services in Victorville, CA is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator – Organics to process green waste and organic material using loaders and sorting, grinding, and screening equipment to produce compost and mulch.

Responsibilities include ensuring safe operations, performing daily inspections, and working as a team to deliver a high-quality final product. The role requires reading safety manuals, good communication, and a willingness to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions.

• Work with peers as a team in completing major tasks successfully.
• Perform material grading and properly process material to create final product.
• Immediately report any unsafe equipment or actions to direct supervision.

• Performs other duties as needed by direct supervision.

Summary

Essential Job Functions

• Maintain safe operating conditions of equipment and area at all times
• Perform pre and post trip inspection of all equipment operated daily
• Work with peers as a team in completing major tasks successfully
• Perform material grading and properly process material to create final product
• Immediately report any unsafe equipment or actions to direct supervision
• Work overtime as needed
• Performs other duties as needed by direct supervision.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma and/or GED
• Must be able to read and understand safety rules, operating manuals, and maintenance instructions for equipment
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual – English/Spanish.
• Class A or B commercial driver’s license
• Acceptable driving record

• Physical:

Salary

$26.05 - $29.49 per hour
