  • Associate degree or equivalent in engineering technology or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in manufacturing process support or engineering technician role preferred.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and process documentation.
  • Proficiency with Excel and office software; ERP experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean, 5S, and root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing Process Support: Observe production operations and support improvements.
  • Time Studies and Capacity: Conduct time studies and support labor standards.
  • Standard Work: Develop and maintain work instructions and process flows.
  • Process Troubleshooting: Investigate bottlenecks, scrap, downtime; support corrective actions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support Lean, 5S, waste reduction and workstation changes.
  • Process Trials: Assist with production trials and record results.
  • Tooling and Equipment: Assist with fixtures, jigs, tooling, equipment settings.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Collect data and verify corrective-action effectiveness.
  • New Product Introduction: Support readiness for new products.
  • Training and Collaboration: Help train staff on new methods.

Position Overview

Gasser Chair is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Process Engineering Technician to support the development, documentation, and improvement of manufacturing processes used to produce our custom seating products.

This role bridges engineering and daily manufacturing operations. The Process Engineering Technician will conduct time studies, collect and analyze process data, develop standard work, support production trials, troubleshoot process issues, and help implement approved improvements that strengthen safety, quality, consistency, and efficiency.

The Process Engineering Technician will report to the Engineering Manager and work closely with production leadership, quality, maintenance, and engineering team members. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving practical problems on the manufacturing floor and seeing process improvements make a real impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing Process Support: Observe production operations, evaluate work methods, and support improvements to process consistency and daily performance.
  • Time Studies and Capacity: Conduct time and motion studies, document cycle times, and support labor standards, line balancing, and capacity assessments.
  • Standard Work: Develop and maintain work instructions, process flows, setup procedures, and visual aids that reflect approved manufacturing practices.
  • Process Troubleshooting: Help investigate bottlenecks, scrap, rework, downtime, and process variation; support corrective actions with engineering and production.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support Lean manufacturing, 5S, waste reduction, and workstation improvements that improve efficiency, quality, and material flow.
  • Process Trials: Assist with production trials and process validation; record results and help recommend adjustments.
  • Tooling and Equipment: Assist with evaluating fixtures, jigs, tooling, equipment settings, and workstation layouts in coordination with engineering and maintenance.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Collect measurements and production data, support investigations, and help verify corrective-action effectiveness.
  • New Product Introduction: Support manufacturing readiness for new and revised products through process planning, trial builds, and production documentation.
  • Training and Collaboration: Assist with employee training on approved work methods and process changes; collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and EHS teams.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Two years of experience in manufacturing process support, continuous improvement, or an engineering technician role preferred.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, production equipment, tooling, and basic measurement methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Ability to collect and analyze production data, conduct time studies, and apply basic mathematics to process and capacity calculations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications; experience with ERP or manufacturing systems preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, standard work, 5S, and root cause analysis preferred.
  • Experience with CAD software, fixture design, CNC equipment, or furniture manufacturing is a plus.
Physical Requirements

This position requires regular work in both office and manufacturing environments. The employee must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the facility, as well as use computers, measuring devices, tools, and manufacturing systems. Occasional lifting and carrying of materials, tools, or equipment up to 25 pounds may be required. Personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
