Job summary

Corning Incorporated is seeking a Process Engineering Intern to support process improvement in Environmental Technologies.   • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program; Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Full‑time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher with GPA 3.0+ on a 4.0 scale
  • Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel and JMP
  • Familiarity with design of experiments (DOE) concepts
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize work
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Availability for a 10‑week internship during Summer 2027 with graduation date Dec 2027 or later
  • Interest in pursuing a full‑time opportunity after graduation, if offered
  • Willingness to work at the posted location

Role Purpose

As a Process Engineering Intern, you will work under the guidance of a Process Engineer on projects that support process improvement within Corning Environmental Technologies. Projects may include evaluating interactions among raw materials, rheology, and surfaces; analyzing experimental data; validating theoretical models; or conducting experiments to strengthen fundamental process understanding.

This internship offers hands‑on technical experience in a manufacturing and materials science environment. You will apply classroom knowledge to real‑world engineering challenges while learning from experienced professionals and gaining exposure to Corning’s people, processes, and culture.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex‑time

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some schedule flexibility available.

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program; Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Full‑time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher at an accredited college or university, with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale
  • Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel and JMP
  • Familiarity with design of experiments (DOE) concepts
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize work
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and logical reasoning skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, management, and external partners
  • Problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Availability for a 10‑week internship during Summer 2027, with an expected graduation date of December 2027 or later
  • Interest in pursuing a full‑time opportunity with Corning after graduation, if offered
  • Willingness to work at the posted location
Desired Skills
  • Understanding of rheology or viscosity concepts related to ceramic batches
  • Basic understanding of ceramic extrusion or related manufacturing processes
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in technical and cross‑functional environments
  • Willingness to participate in hands‑on laboratory, pilot, or manufacturing work
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma DMAIC or similar continuous improvement principles

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
