Our facility processes approximately 13 billion gallons of wastewater annually, ensuring public health and environmental protection. Position Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Process Engineer develops process targets, monitors performance, and supports improvements to ensure efficient operations of the water resource recovery facility. The role involves industry research, trend analysis, and supervising a team of Process Specialists and a Senior Process Analyst.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ensure compliance with regulatory drivers by setting targets and making process recommendations for effluent, biosolids, and reclaimed water permits.
2. Communicate process performance to stakeholders, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
3. Review and revise internal sampling plans and manage operational databases.
4. Lead research, pilot projects, and process modeling efforts.
5. Support process equipment effectiveness, upgrades, and technical specifications.
6. Mentor and develop staff, including supervising teams and supporting professional growth.
7. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering (environmental focus preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in water/wastewater treatment, including staff supervision.
• Virginia PE license or ability to obtain within a year.
• Strong understanding of wastewater processes, instrumentation, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in process modeling, data management, and MS Office; experience with SUMO preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

Includes lifting up to 15 pounds, working indoors in a climate-controlled environment, and outdoor site evaluations with safety gear as needed.
