Job summary

IPG seeks a Process Engineer – Paper Manufacturing to support site-wide process engineering in Blythewood, SC, focusing on paper production. You will act as the technical expert, driving improvements in quality, yield, and machine efficiency across operations.

Collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams will be essential to optimize processes and scale up new products. This exempt, on-site role offers growth within a global packaging leader.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of process engineering experience within paper manufacturing, paper converting, packaging, tissue, or a related environment.
• Strong understanding of paper manufacturing processes, properties, and process optimization techniques.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot paper machine issues, identify bottlenecks, and improve production performance.
• Experience with root cause analysis, process improvement, and manufacturing problem-solving.
• Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Support process improvement initiatives across all manufacturing operations and production equipment.
• Serve as the primary technical resource for paper manufacturing processes and related production challenges.
• Investigate paper machine performance issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to improve stability, quality, yield, and throughput.
• Analyze production data and process trends to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement across the facility.
• Work with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams to troubleshoot and optimize production performance.
• Lead continuous improvement projects focused on waste reduction, process capability, machine efficiency, and product consistency.
• Support new product introductions, process trials, and manufacturing scale-up activities.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and operating procedures.
• Provide technical training and coaching to operations personnel regarding process controls and best practices.
• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process modifications throughout the plant.
• Prepare and communicate project updates, findings, and recommendations.
• Develop, implement and communicate work instructions, procedures and other documentation as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Location: On-Site at our Blythewood, SC facility

$2,500 Sign-On Bonus Available for Qualified Candidates

Position Purpose: Provide process engineering support across all manufacturing operations with a primary focus on paper manufacturing processes. Serve as the site's technical expert for paper-related production issues, helping identify process bottlenecks, improve product quality and consistency, optimize machine performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Partner closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve overall plant efficiency and manufacturing performance.

Principle Accountabilities
