General Matter, Inc. is hiring a Process Engineer to support development, optimization, and scaling of chemical processes for nuclear fuel cycle operations in Los Angeles.

The role emphasizes safe, efficient engineering solutions and a strong foundation in chemical engineering principles. The ideal candidate will contribute to process design, pilot testing, data analysis, and documentation, collaborating with manufacturing, operations, and safety teams to meet project goals and regulatory

Qualifications

• Evidence of exceptional ability in engineering projects or portfolio.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field; advanced degree may substitute for years of experience.
• 2+ years of experience in nuclear safety, process safety, or high-hazard environments.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and reaction kinetics.
• Familiarity with engineering design processes and technical documentation.
• Proficiency in problem-solving, data analysis, and technical communication.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to communicate safety data to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support development of new processes and unit operations for nuclear fuel production facilities.
• Lead pilot-scale testing initiatives and contribute to process modeling and data analysis.
• Execute engineering assignments leveraging thermodynamics, fluid flow, heat and mass transfer, and reaction kinetics.
• Contribute to process modeling and to the preparation of design requirements, specifications, and procedures.
• Prepare and present reports, summaries, test plans, and progress communications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, operations, and safety to support design and operational objectives.
• Participate in technical reviews as presenter or reviewer to address project challenges.
