Job summary

Plymouth Tube is seeking a manufacturing process engineer to oversee design, planning, directing, and coordinating activities related to process equipment across value streams. The role focuses on improving physical performance via metallurgical analyses, material optimization, and furnace/heat-treat enhancements.

You will drive standard work, apply world-class manufacturing practices, troubleshoot production issues, and lead process-improvement projects with a team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Metallurgical or related Engineering from a four-year college or university or equivalent work experience.
• Strong project management skills and ability to interpret product designs for manufacturability.
• Solid problem-solving skills with root-cause analysis and permanent corrective action.
• Experience with ROI/NPV justification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish, verify, and maintain standard work instructions for operation and setup equipment.
• Research world class manufacturing practices and coordinate with management and operators to apply them.
• Troubleshoot day-to-day issues with emphasis on continuous improvements of equipment and metrics.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes using SPC, VSM, Poka-Yoke, and 8D problem solving.
• Plan workforce utilization, space, and workflow; design equipment layouts for efficiency.
• Perform CAD-based layout and design work; translate drawings to finished parts.
• Coordinate with maintenance on predictive and preventive activities for equipment upkeep.
• Lead problem-solving events and train personnel in world class techniques using JIT.
