Job summary

Lithium Americas seeks a Process Engineer to support Thacker Pass sulfuric acid plant and lithium processing facilities. Based in Winnemucca, NV, you will help design, commission, and optimize operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient performance across chemical processing systems.

The role emphasizes process improvement, data-driven troubleshooting, and collaboration with operations, engineering partners, and contractors to uphold safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering (or related field)
• 3–10 years of Process Engineer experience in a chemical processing facility
• Strong understanding of chemical process engineering principles and unit operations
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to motivate teams toward common goals

Responsibilities

• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities for the Thacker Pass Sulfuric Acid Plant and Lithium Processing Facility
• Provide day-to-day process engineering support to Operations, assisting with troubleshooting and optimization
• Investigate operational issues using process data and trends from the DCS historian
• Develop and manage capital projects that improve safety, throughput, and efficiency in the processing plant
• Oversee contractors performing maintenance and sustaining projects on-site
• Provide advice and technical guidance to contractors, employees, and consultants to ensure standards are applied
• Review and implement a positive safety and environmentally sound culture with procedures and programs
• Develop systems and processes that track productivity and metrics and performance targets
• Build trusted relationships across teams and promote Lithium Americas’ values
