Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare technical reports and regulatory submissions; maintain records.
  • Identify quality issues and communicate them appropriately.
  • Develop plans and timetables for project work.

Job description

Process Engineer – API Manufacturing

This position supports the pilot plant facility at the Lilly Medicines Foundry in Lebanon, Indiana, focusing on active pharmaceutical ingredient synthesis. The role involves solving technical challenges with equipment design, developing and sustaining process knowledge, optimizing processes, and managing equipment capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform impact and risk assessments for unit operations
  • Learn reactor design, automation recipes, and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with safety and company policies
  • Maintain processing equipment in compliance with internal Quality System, engineering standards, and cGMP requirements
  • Assess rig fit by modeling, simulations, or experimental work to validate heat and mass transfer when scaling to plant
  • Engage and communicate with HSE, Quality Assurance, Tech Services, Development, Operations, FUME/C&Q, Automation, Maintenance, Environmental Monitoring, and Manufacturing
  • Author, review, or approve technical reports and regulatory submissions; maintain records and technical notebooks
  • Proactively identify quality issues and communicate appropriately
  • Develop or review plans and timetables for project work
Basic Requirements
  • BS or MS in chemical engineering or related engineering degree and at least 2 years experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or CMO environment supporting process engineering for drug substance API manufacturing or development
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. Lilly does not sponsor work authorization or visas.

  • Deep technical interest and understanding in the field of Chemical Engineering

  • Experience with DeltaV, Dynochem, Aspen, and/or electronic lab notebooks

  • Initial location at Parkwood West, Indianapolis.
  • Permanent location at the new Lilly Medicines Foundry in Lebanon, Indiana.
Benefits and Compensation

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $66,000 - $171,600.

Full‑time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
