Charter Casting in Woodstock, IL is hiring a Process Engineer to lead safety, quality, yield, and throughput improvements on the shop floor. You will work with operations, engineering, and contractors to implement new equipment and processes, manage capital projects, and drive variation reduction using standard process methods.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, 1+ year manufacturing experience, and strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 1+ years manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of lean, Kaizen, 5S and 6σ.
• Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly, and production equipment.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Self-starter with strong analytical abilities.
• Knowledge of SPC, PFMEA, control plans, process diagrams, and routings.
• Basic 3D CAD software skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and justify investments in new equipment.
• Lead and support continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
• Provide floor-level technical support and lead cross-functional teams on projects.
• Coordinate with Product Engineering on new component processes and equipment planning.
• Write appropriations requests and manage capital projects.
• Drive variation reduction using Process Control methods.
• Define and document SOPs for new/modified processes.
• Track key operational metrics and follow safety and quality procedures.
