The role emphasizes complex technical work, cross-functional handoffs, and supporting materials performance in manufacturing. A BA/BS in engineering is required; MS is preferred; 8+ years of relevant experience is expected.

Job Summary:

The Process Engineer IVis aseniorcontributor whoworks highly independentlyand uses originality, ingenuity and established procedurestodesign, develop and implementnew technologies and processes in accordance with product specifications, equipment capabilities and regulatory requirements. The Process Engineer IVspecializes in complex technical matters, andcollaborates closely with Engineering to ensure successful handoff of new products, processes, and materials while providing technical support as needed, maximizes product performance by researching, testing, analyzing and verifying that materials will perform in manufacturing and environment, oversees materials shelf life to support quality metrics, participates in engineering design review and ensures customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:
  • Design, develop, and implement new technologies and processes related to product development and/or enhancements to current capabilities
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend new materials and technologies for use in the factory, including assessment of replacements for obsolete materials
  • Conduct or supervise tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure their quality
  • Analyze product failure data and laboratory test results to determine causes of problems and develop solutions
  • Use appropriate tools (CBS, statistical, DOE, FMEA,etc) to assess, characterize, validate, and qualify new processes and equipment;Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration
  • Provide technical and risk assessments on existing equipment and processes, and future developments and enhanced capabilities;Design and direct the testing or control of processing procedures
  • Assess, design and develop tooling requirements as related toproduct build; if appropriate,work closely with machine shop to ensure correct and timely availability of hardware
  • Generate technicalreports,Document procedures and material specifications
  • Evaluate technical specifications and economic factors relating to process or product design objectives
  • Evaluate and recommend new equipment related to new technologies or enhancements to current capabilities
  • Review new product plans and make recommendations for material selection based on design objectives, such as strength, weight, heat resistance, electrical conductivity, and cost
  • Create or modify related documentation - procedures, work instructions, operational guides - as related to new development and/or process enhancement activities
  • Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management
Eligibility Requirement:

This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience:8+years relevant work experience; Experience using computer databases
  • Knowledge:Expert knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or program; Demonstrated expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures; Other knowledge varies by division
  • Skills/Abilities:Demonstrated ability to make decisions or take action independently; Demonstrated ability to plan and accomplish goals by relying on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals;Strong Statistics / Analysis / Problem Solving skills;Self-motivated / Ability to prioritize / Strong time management skills; Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of the organization;Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and outside professionals;Basic ability to analyze and document analysis of materials and parts (i.e. fluid, corrosion, fungal and flame resistance)
  • Education/Certification:BA or BSdegree in engineeringdiscipline, i.e.Material, Chemical, Industrial, or Mechanical
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’sdegree in Engineering:Materials or Chemistry
  • Aerospace or military materials engineering experience
Working Conditions:
  • Standard officeenvironment:Work requires substantialvisual concentration on detail
  • May need to work with chemicals and oversee chemical processes and tests
  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
  • May have special circumstances that requirework at night or on holidays; May need to be available by phone after work hours
  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment
  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limitedto:eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

Salary range: $143,529.80 - $166,177.80. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
