Amrize is seeking a Process Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 at our Portland, CO cement plant. This 10-week, paid internship offers hands-on experience in process optimization, monitoring, data analysis, and sustainability initiatives within a high-performance manufacturing environment.

You’ll work onsite, spend significant time in the field, collaborate across maintenance and production teams, and present learnings to our executive leadership at the end of the program.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Geographic flexibility to work at various sites.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field gaining hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in optimizing cement production processes to enhance efficiency.
  • Monitor and control process variables such as temperature and flow.
  • Support maintenance and production operations within the plant.
  • Participate in sustainability and environmental impact assessments.
  • Collect and analyze data related to production, quality and environment.
  • Assist in safety protocol implementation and compliance.
  • Present learnings to executive leadership at internship end.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As we continue to look for more sustainable ways to build, we need world-class talent to join our team. We are seeking a Process Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 who is passionate about sustainability, driven by curiosity and keen to grow, learn, develop and thrive in our high-performance culture. This opportunity will be a 10-week, paid internship beginning June 1, 2027.

This position will be based out of Portland, CO.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Process Optimization: Assist in optimizing cement production processes, including adjusting parameters and troubleshooting to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Process Monitoring: Monitor and control process variables such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates, using automated systems and manual techniques.
  • Technical Learning: Understand and support various mechanical, maintenance, and production operations within the plant.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Participate in sustainability and environmental impact assessments, working on projects aimed at reducing the plant's carbon footprint and improving resource efficiency.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to cement production, quality control, and environmental performance.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in monitoring and maintaining product quality through testing and inspecting raw materials and finished products.
  • Safety Protocols: Assist in the implementation and monitoring of safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Skill Application: Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations, working collaboratively to achieve team and company goals.
  • Executive Presentation: At the end of your internship, you’ll present your learnings and contributions to our executive leadership team.

SCHEDULE AND ENVIRONMENT
  • Work Schedule: This is an onsite role with a mandatory 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, working an 8-hour shift each day.
  • Work Environment: You will be working in a cement manufacturing and production environment, which includes exposure to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and various weather conditions.
  • Transportation: You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the worksite.
  • Travel Requirements: You may need to travel for site tours, shadowing experiences, or intern events throughout the duration of your internship.
