Position

Process Engineer II — Moncure, NC. Arclin, Inc. is currently looking for a Process Engineer II for our Moncure, NC location. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role will develop, evaluate, and improve the manufacturing methods utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, chemicals, and production equipment capabilities. The position works closely with automation, engineering and safety functions to ensure all aspects of change management are executed and maintains all quality control standards.

What You’ll Do
  • Monitor and improve the efficiency and output of the plant, ensuring the manufacturing process operates at optimal levels, maximizing the rate and quality of all assets to meet supply requirements.
  • Provide technical advice on plant operations and improvements.
  • Maintain the systems necessary to ensure quality of raw materials and finished products; provide primary support for all chemistry/quality related manufacturing issues; act as liaison between R&T (Research and Technology), Technical Service, Marketing & Sales, and Production; provide guidance for department (Lab) activity and ensure it is within budget.
  • Collaborate on engineering analyses of projects including preliminary design, detailed design, project cost analysis, life cycle cost analysis and equipment selection.
  • Lead risk assessment activities, including hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies for health and safety of plant staff and the community; apply principles of mass, momentum and heat transfer to process and equipment design; ensure operation and process meet safety and environmental regulations.
  • Manage the site QC Lab; conduct routine and non-routine QC testing; maintain lab supplies for the main QC lab and production QC labs; supervise the Quality Analysts who report to the Process Engineer.
  • Lead Corrective and Preventative Action documentation and response, including Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Planning.
  • Facilitate process mapping, FMEA sessions and Gage R&R with the operations team; serve as subject matter expert for EXP (corrective action reporting software) and NWA (quality test data).
  • Ensure all customer product quality incidents have root causes identified and controlled; establish product inspection standards by studying process control; manage all Raw Material Quality Inspections.

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 5–8 years engineering experience in a chemical manufacturing facility; recent graduates considered based on school program and GPA.
  • Knowledge of distributive process control systems (e.g., Emerson DeltaV)
  • Ability to work well with all levels of personnel throughout the facility
  • Knowledge of process simulation software
  • HAZOP facilitation and PSM knowledge
  • On-call for quality-related production issues
  • Ability to operate safely in a manufacturing environment; physical demands may include lifting up to 20 lbs, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, stooping, rotating, climbing stairs, or similar activities
Preferred
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
  • Registered Professional Engineer
