Job summary

Medtronic in Tempe is seeking a Process Engineer to develop, optimize, and deploy manufacturing and operational processes across programs, leading equipment installation, qualification, and rollout.

You will manage cross-functional teams, coordinate procurement and commissioning, analyze performance, and drive Lean Six Sigma and AI-enabled productivity improvements in a on-site setting.

The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and deploying manufacturing and operational processes while leading the installation, qualification, and rollout of production equipment across multiple areas or programs. This role combines strong process engineering expertise with hands‑on experience in equipment implementation, commissioning, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safe, efficient, and scalable operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to- end deployment of manufacturing, test, automation, or production equipment. Support equipment upgrades, transfers, and expansion projects.
  • Coordinate equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, and startup activities.
  • Develop deployment schedules and manage project timelines to meet operational requirements.
  • Work with vendors, suppliers, facilities teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.
  • Validate equipment performance and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
  • Analyze process performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and throughput.
  • Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, SOPs, and training materials.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities for process-related issues.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • May develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.
  • Manage multiple equipment deployment and process improvement projects simultaneously. Track project milestones, risks, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure deployment activities minimize disruption to ongoing operations.
  • Leverage AI-based tools and technologies to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and reduce non-value-added activities.
Required Knowledge and Experience

Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 0 years relevant experience.

Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of design of experiments (DOE), statistical analysis methods, and data analysis tools such as Minitab or JMP.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM), Design for Six Sigma, or Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and improve productivity, including large language models (LLMs) and agentic AI solutions.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$84,000.00 - $126,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
