Job summary

Collectors Universe, Inc. is seeking a Process Engineer II to lead design and optimization of manufacturing processes. You will partner with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing to improve efficiency, quality, and safety across facilities, with a strong emphasis on 5S and lean practices.

The role requires 4‑year engineering degree, 1–2 years in high-volume manufacturing, and solid PLC/automation exposure. Onsite in the US with some travel to vendors and other Collectors facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related engineering.
  • 1–2 years in high-volume manufacturing or industrial automation.
  • Experience with 5S, Lean, JIT, or Kaizen approaches.
  • Experience working with equipment vendors and suppliers.
  • Familiar with tooling design and fixturing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel or similar.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Develop and stabilize existing processes across cross-functional teams.
  • Coordinate equipment validation and implementation with cross-functional groups.
  • Prepare and deliver engineering presentations internally and externally.
  • Document process steps to ensure work standardization.
  • Perform root-cause analysis for manufacturing issues and implement robust resolutions.
  • Identify opportunities for product, equipment, and process improvements across facilities.
  • Implement 5S and lean concepts in processes and workspaces.
  • Test parts and machines and generate reports.
  • Support maintenance and repair actions including validation and calibration verification.

Process Engineer II – Engineering & Quality

Onsite Requirement

This role requires onsite presence in the office 5 days per week, with occasional travel to vendors and other domestic and international Collectors facilities.

What You’ll Do
  • Process design & development: replace current processes with more efficient, stable, and higher‑quality processes with cross‑functional teams.
  • Process development: improve and stabilize existing processes.
  • Equipment validation and implementation with cross‑functional groups.
  • Prepare and deliver engineering‑related presentations internally and externally.
  • Document process steps to ensure work standardization.
  • Root‑cause analysis when manufacturing issues arise, working with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to determine robust resolutions.
  • Identify opportunities for product, equipment, and process improvements throughout Collectors’ facilities.
  • Implement and recommend 5S and lean manufacturing concepts in processes and workspaces to increase efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Perform testing on sample parts and machines, generate reports.
  • Support maintenance and equipment repair actions, including validation of repairs and verification of calibrations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are
  • Hold a 4‑year Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar Engineering degree.
  • 1–2 years experience in high‑volume manufacturing or industrial automation.
  • Experience with 5S, Lean, JIT, or Kaizen approaches.
  • Experience working with equipment vendors and suppliers.
  • Familiar with tooling design and fixturing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel or similar skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Curious and seeks to learn new processes, systems, and tools; asks questions to ensure understanding.
  • Takes direction well; pays attention to detail; able to work in a deadline‑sensitive environment.
What Will Set You Apart
  • Experience with PLCs, using Allen Bradley or Beckhoff.
  • Experience in plastics welding (ultrasonic) and injection molding.
  • Experience with machine vision systems, both hardware and software.
  • Familiar with industrial safety standards and best practices.
  • Capable of managing individual tasks and deadlines independently.
  • Spanish or Japanese language skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Extended periods in office and warehouse settings.
  • Hearing and vision within normal ranges.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Working around equipment and machinery; occasional exposure to machinery noise.
  • Occasional exposure to warehouse temperatures and humidity.
Salary Range

$72,000 – $91,588 (actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and skill set).
