Job summary

Hohman Plating, a division of Novaria Group, is seeking a Process Engineer I to support the development and improvement of manufacturing processes at its Dayton-area facility. The role emphasizes learning, problem solving, and independent execution of defined engineering work within processing areas.

The engineer will support production, new work, process improvements, and technical problem solving, while communicating progress and escalation when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials or related field.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Apply engineering fundamentals to manufacturing problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Support production by resolving process questions, technical issues, and non-standard conditions.
• Review and implement specifications, drawings, and other technical requirements needed to define and maintain production processes.
• Develop and maintain routings, process parameters, masking, racking, tooling, and technical instructions.
• Support new part, new process, and other engineering implementation activities.
• Troubleshoot process failures and support root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Perform process trials, testing, data analysis, validation, and continuous improvement activities.
• Work with Production, Quality, Solution Control, Maintenance, customers, suppliers, and other resources to complete engineering work.
• Communicate progress, risks, unresolved issues, and needed escalation.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation and participate in cross‑training across Hohman processes.

SUMMARY OF JOB

The Process Engineer I supports the development, execution, troubleshooting, and improvement of Hohman manufacturing processes. This role develops the technical knowledge and judgment necessary to independently execute defined engineering work within assigned process areas. The engineer supports production, new work, process improvement, and technical problem solving while learning how engineering decisions affect quality, delivery, cost, and process stability. The expectation is to become reliably independent in completing assigned engineering work, communicating issues, and recognizing when additional support or escalation is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, or another relevant Engineering field preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret specifications, drawings, and technical documents.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving ability.
• Ability to apply engineering fundamentals to practical manufacturing problems.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
