Job summary

Novo Nordisk in Clayton, NC seeks a Maintenance/Process Improvement Engineer to improve reliability of core processes and lead improvement projects. You will mentor technicians, support event responses, and uphold maintenance standards while collaborating on global initiatives.

The role requires an engineering degree and 2–5+ years in maintenance or related fields, with Lean knowledge preferred. Excellent collaboration across teams is essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field required with 2–5+ years in maintenance, design or process improvement.
  • Lean methodologies (LEAN 1-Star or higher) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, and Control/SCADA/PLC systems is advantageous.
  • Experience planning, organizing, and executing maintenance activities with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Improve system and equipment reliability for core processes to meet requirements.
  • Lead projects affecting a production line using process improvement methods and project management.
  • Support event response activities and maintenance standards.
  • Develop and mentor Maintenance Technicians in technical skills.
  • Collaborate on DFP global initiatives and standard procedures.

The Position

Improve system & equipment reliability for the core processes to meet all customer, business & regulatory requirements through the following activities: People Focus, Process Focus, Equipment Focus and Standards "Gatekeeper".

Relationships

Reports to Manager, Technical Support.

Essential Functions
  • Support technical development of Maintenance Technicians
  • Improve the performance of one production line or system, using process improvement systems in place
  • Lead projects that affect one production line using process improvement systems in place, including project management
  • Support event response activities
  • Maintain standards for procedures & maintenance plans
  • Support DFP global collaboration initiatives
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned
Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Strap & unstrap pallets using hands. Must be able to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require colour vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site. May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/related field or Equivalent (experience + education) required2-5+ years engineering experience in Maintenance, Design, Process Improvement; cLEAN® 1-Star preferredKnowledgeable in the following systems: Instrument & Electrical, Mechanical, Control/SCADA/PLCs, Process Improvement Methodologies, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) a plusProven expertise in planning/organization/execution of maintenance activities, following up on results, & revising the work plan for complex problems being resolved by cross functional teams a plus
