Job summary

Novo Nordisk A/S is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for our Clayton, NC site to improve system and equipment reliability across core processes. You will focus on people, process, and equipment, acting as a gatekeeper to meet customer, business, and regulatory requirements.

You will report to the Manager, Technical Support, and will contribute to developing Maintenance Technicians, leading small projects, and supporting event response activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Engineering background with maintenance, design or process-improvement experience.
• Lean process knowledge (1-Star preferred).
• Experience planning/organizing maintenance and cross-functional coordination.
• Familiarity with instrument/electrical, mechanical, and control systems (SCADA/PLC).

Responsibilities

• Support development of Maintenance Technicians.
• Improve performance of a production line or system using established processes.
• Lead projects affecting one line, including project management.
• Support event response activities and maintenance planning.
• Maintain standards for procedures and maintenance plans.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Position

Improve system & equipment reliability for the core processes to meet all customer, business & regulatory requirements through the following activities: People Focus, Process Focus, Equipment Focus and Standards "Gatekeeper".

Relationships

Reports to Manager, Technical Support.

Essential Functions

• Support technical development of Maintenance Technicians
• Improve the performance of one production line or system, using process improvement systems in place
• Lead projects that affect one production line using process improvement systems in place, including project management
• Support event response activities
• Maintain standards for procedures & maintenance plans
• Other accountabilities, as assigned

Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Strap & unstrap pallets using hands. Must be able to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require colour vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site. May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/related field or Equivalent (experience + education) required
• 2-5+ years engineering experience in Maintenance, Design, Process Improvement; cLEAN® 1-Star preferred
• Knowledgeable in the following systems: Instrument & Electrical, Mechanical, Control/SCADA/PLCs, Process Improvement Methodologies, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) a plus
• Proven expertise in planning/organization/execution of maintenance activities, following up on results & revising the work plan for complex problems being resolved by cross functional teams a plus
